Pretty much the same here MF. 12yo isn't assertive enough with her and the smallest so doggo sees her as a plaything. 16yo and all his friends are happy for excitable dog mouthing them when I don't let her and MrM almost expects her to know what to do and shouts a bit more. It must be so confusing for her sometimes.  With me, I can get her to sit and wait whilst I go through the stairgate, she tends not to jump at me and walks better on the lead. It might be the big bag of treats I have but it works.

The most effective dog training definitely happens when everyone is on the same page. It’s far from impossible otherwise, but chances are you will always find that she behaves better for you than for any of the rest of them!

We both train our dogs but the Collie is a pain as he doesnt listen to me if Mr LH is around when we are out . He has been known to turn look at me and then carry on a though I havent spoken. In the house he is as good as gold for me. The funny thing is our last Collie was just the same. The other two dogs were very responsive but our 15year old JRT is getting deaf so she genuinely doesnt always hear me. The staffie X rarely leaves my side when we are out as she is so nervous (the vet says neurotic :)

My cav was described by the vet as a "gentle soul" code for complete wuss! 😂 when he had his injections he cried like she'd stabbed him with a rusty knife.

Doggo lost all recall today. Walked her with her sister but ended up keeping madam on the lead as her and her sister don't play nice 😥

Even the best trained dogs lose recall occasionally. She's probably just ultra excited to see her sister. Always take something enticing with you be it a fave toy or treat to make it easier for you when you see them.

I took some meat from pork ribs that 16yo cooked and didn't eat. Even that wasn't enough!

I'm going to start training with a whistle and high value treats (sausage). Got some great advice on the pet care forum so going to try and put it into practice.

I just want a well behaved dog and I know it's training for her and me. It doesn't happen overnight but the more effort I put in, the more we both reap the rewards. In Doggo's case, sausage 😂
