Bad news. Rain is coming in from the kitchen skylight again. God knows how we're going to pay to get this fixed.

  • Oh no ☹️ Can you just seal around the edges with bathroom sealer or something as a temporary fix?

No it's coming in under the roof tiles then finding it's way down through the window. It's a nightmare.  Had a sleepless night last night thinking about this and the money.

A bit of good news I did remember to do my balance transfer so at least I continue to remain interest free.

  • ☹️ that’s hard. We have a drain pipe that’s backing up and seems to be an underground drainage issue…I’m trying to ignore it for now!

  • Oh Naomim - what a nuisance. Can only hope it turns out to be a minor issue that can be fixed easily - and cheaply.

We did make an insurance claim on it last year but they only paid out for the interior repairs as they said the roof was building defect. Note the bloody dodgy builders. We had a roofer in over the summer and were hoping it was fixed but he did say this was the first and cheapest option. It's not as bad as it had been previously but I can only see it getting worse again if we dont sort it now. In laws have offered the money so looks like we'll be extending that loan with them again 🤦‍♀️

Work is busy and super stressful at the moment, my home is like a hovel and I feel as much as I like wfh I need some office time to stop staring at the mess.

16yo is also presenting us with some issues that I can't really go into.

Just finding it all a bit overwhelming at the moment.

  • Oh lovely I'm not surprised - what a lot of cr*p coming along all at once - really NOT what you need. Glad that you can borrow from in laws, although not ideal at least it means you don't have to worry about more "traditional model" credit.

For the home stuff, can you decree a "15 minute blast" for everyone to do a bit of tidying etc tonight, with a view to getting it improved at least visually ahead of the weekend? We do that from time to time and it's amazing what a difference you can make in a short space of time. Set a timer, put some music on, and run around like mad things!

  • We rotate through each room once a week doing an extra task in that room at the weekend. It maybe something small like clean out one cupboard or something big like clean whole conservatory but it's helping us get on top of things. Each family member could get a task on the calendar whether it's mop one room or just change their own bed. You can't do it all alone

  • This weekend is conservatory but as it had major clean last time it came round it just needs a quick flick this time.
Next weekend is kitchen. It may be clean inside just top cupboards or may stretch to bottom ones as well if we don't have much on. Little bits add up just like debt repayments
