So after having a prolific surge and getting into the habit of rounding, I had an odd 54p sitting on my Barclays account. Thought I'd tilly tidy and chuck it to the Barclaycard as can do it all on one app and it wouldn't let me make a payment of less than £1  So it's now in the tilly tidy pot on my Monzo account to build up a little more.

  • Prolific can be so unpredictable, I had nothing for weeks and then on Monday I had a bunch of surveys and was able to cash out nearly £8! In the summer, I kept the website open and was ready to pounce on new surveys but work has got a lot busier since Sept so I've let it slide a bit.

How are you doing with your receipt apps? I use Storerewards and Shoppix, I'm nearly at the £10 cash out on Storerewards and about 30% of the way to £20 on Shoppix. I've had them for just over a year but I've only really been regularly uploading receipts for the last few months, so not too bad at all!

I'm doing terribly with shoppix. I keep forgetting.  I've also used Google pay for a few things recently and not sure I can upload those receipts as it doesn't show my card no. but gives it's own reference.

  • I only ever seem to buy on line or very local so have never been able to work out the receipt apps. I’ve only just got my head around top cash back. Prolific hasn’t been too bad this week. I’m up to £3. Some that say you can’t use an iPad will work, so I sneakily give them a bash anyway, but some screen you out. I do the gov one, but that’s so very slow. I’ve been on it for years and am only half way towards a very first pay out!

It is worth trying anyway, they don't penalise you for a 'wrong' receipt - and I've had a couple of very basic looking ones approved (the kind of old school til receipts from cafes that don't have any card payment info on)

If there is anyone you could recommend to YouGov that is a good way of getting an extra 200 points for each person - helped me get out of a slump with it and finally get my reward! Weirdly now that I've cashed out, I seem to be getting a lot more surveys through there - but I don't know if it just feels like that because I put the app on my phone and turned on the push notifications so I don't miss any.
  • I think gov so send you a lot after a cash out I think its so you won't lose momentum...i have lol! Need to get back on and start building I have cashed out twice probably in a few years whereas prolific with it being low amounts you seem to be able to withdraw all the time x

@WinterWarrior I remember shoppix sending personal email so you could forward online receipts.

@GeorgianaCavendish @Lookafterthepennies2020 I've never bothered with YouGov's I barely have time for prolific 😂 I did try prolific on my phone the other night but at the end when it asked for my ID I couldn't work out how to get back then had to start it again 🤦‍♀️

I've just banked my £2 tin. I thought I must have been close to £400 but it was £200 on the nose. I'm disappointed but it's not to be sneezed at I guess. And now I've just paid out £2,600 to the plumber.

Whilst I was on the bank site I downloaded all my recent transactions so will try and get YNAB up straight over the weekend.

Forgot to add, when I was in the bank the cashier was giving me the usual speil about changing mortgage, told her we'd just refixed onto a 5 year deal. Somehow I mentioned I had a load off cc debt and was getting it down. She went on about adding my cc debt to my mortgage. I looked aghast and told her I'd never turn unsecured debt into secured debt so she started wittering on about lower interest rates on the mortgage. I was keen to point out all mine were on 0% and that I used this site daily and was in the zone!  She finally got the point 🙂

Glad you put the cashier straight.  One of the reasons I left banking 20 years ago is because they would insist on getting all their staff to meet targets on sales regardless of whether it was the right thing for the customer or not.  I gave my notice in after being told off for not trying to sell a credit card to a 90 year old lady who just used to come in once a week to withdraw her pension.  She could barely understand how a normal savings account worked let alone a credit card.  I was only filling in for someone on the till over the lunch hour as my normal job was a mortgage advisor and arrears counsellor but that was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak so they had my notice by the end of the day.  Of course we all know the credit crunch happened about 10 years later mainly due to uncontrolled lending as staff were set such high targets for loans, credit cards and mortgages.
