    Hi Sashy

I shouldn't laugh but the bit about your OH and the shirts was very funny :)

Hope you get some rest this weekend.

Thanks Bob. Re the shirts I felt a bit daft afterwards but was properly raging at the time. :rotfl: Luckily DH does just laugh at me as he knows I'll usually snap out of it quite quickly. :o

Yesterday I was pretty sore with sciatic pain most of the day. We went out to the garden centre & got a few plants but had heavy rain most of the day so didn't get them potted/in hanging baskets or in the front border.

Had a nap & a hot bath in the late afternoon & then DH & I watched Eurovision.:o

Today have had a long lie & we are going to try and get some tidying done in the house as well as sorting out the plants we got yesterday. DH going to make a lasagne for the freezer as well, time permitting.

Bed stripped & sheets in the washing so far. DH has cleaned out the cat litter trays & is going to do the hoovering. If he moves some things in the kitchen for me I can steam clean the floor & maybe wash the patio doors. Can't stretch or bend too much right now though and get tired quite quickly.:(

We were very busy yesterday - I managed to steam clean the kitchen, utility room, downstairs bathroom & hall floors and then clean the inside of the windows in the living room & kitchen and the patio doors. DH did the outsides for me after he hoovered the full house & hung the sheets out to dry.

We also managed to tidy & dust the living room, still a few things to be put away but much better than it was. We then headed out to the garden and I made up another few hanging baskets plus transplanted some plug plants I bought into pots. DH re-potted some of his chilli plants as well before we ran out of time and energy. :o

DH also made a full lasagne and then portioned it up and froze it, so that's something towards dinners once the baby has arrived. Today we're making slow cooker chilli to freeze and tomorrow we're doing a fish pie. I'll try and do something easy like corned beef hash as well.

We have a climbing rose & a Hebe to plant in the front garden as we have a bit of a bare corner behind our hydrangea which the local foxes keep pooing in. _pale_ Also have some upright lobelia for the front border there as well. We were hoping to get these in today but the weather has been far too wet

DH sorted out some blu-rays he didn't want and took them to one of the exchange places along with my old ipad mini today - we got over £100 for the lot which was pretty good considering they have just been sitting in a cupboard. :j £50 has been put into our house savings (things we need to buy for the house and/or repairs etc) and £50 has been paid off loan no1. :T

Had my appointment with the midwife this morning as well and all is fine. Baby is still head down and engaged but they can't really tell how much as the wee monkey has its hand right next to its head and wouldn't move it. :o There was a student midwife in the appointment and she was so gentle trying to work out the baby's position - think she was scared to press too hard. My usual midwife was much firmer when pressing in the pelvis area to try and work out how engaged the baby was, which was quite eye watering. :o

I've to go back in 2 weeks for a sweep if the baby hasn't arrived. She did say I don't have to have it done if I don't want to but might then need to be induced. So hoping that baby gets a move on and isn't getting too comfy in there as don't particularly want a sweep or end up having to be induced. I would have to go to the labour ward if the first pessary to induce didn't work rather than the midwfe unit so don't really want that. Have been drinking raspberry leaf tea and bouncing on my exercise ball - I feel a bit demented doing it but if it helps the baby get into position and come a bit sooner then it's ok. :rotfl:

Bless you sciatic pain is horrid. When I had sciatica I remember my physio teaching me that sitting right on the edge of a birthing ball and just gently tilting your pelvis back and forth was helpful.

I really hope you have a nice easy run down to the birth now.

Thanks Bob, luckily the sciatic pain isn't constant, it's bad enough when it does appear.

We've managed to get the plants into the front garden & DH cut the grass as well before the rain started again. We're both knackered so just having a rest this afternoon. I think I'll make the fish pie tomorrow when DH is at work.

My back is quite sore today but no sign of contractions so far. DH is panicking about next week at work as they want to start his paternity leave on the Monday but the baby might not arrive for 2 weeks after that and his work will probably be awkward about postponing it. He's also worrying about my going into labour whilst he's at work as he can't have his phone on when he's driving a train. So we're basically hoping the baby comes in the next few days.:o

Think I'll have a bath soon & see if it helps my back pain at all.

It's my first official day on maternity leave today so feeling a bit odd as would usually be going back for 7 late shifts. DH is on early shifts this week, still crossing our fingers for baby to come on time or a bit early.

DH speaking to his work today as we can't really give a definite date & he doesn't want to waste his paternity leave when the baby hasn't arrived.

So far today I've hung out a washing & opened the greenhouse up to air as it's quite sunny. Looks like our chantenay carrots will be ready soon & our new potato plants are getting flower buds. :j The courgette plants are almost all ready to go into a grow bag outside & my tomato plants are coming on well too. :T

Just having a rest & then will make a fish pie to freeze. We have enough fish to make 2 pies but will probably just freeze half to use another time rather than make 2 at once. Will have to play freezer Tetris later to get everything in. :rotfl:

DH & I finally put the isofix bases into our cars & had a practice getting the car seat in & out. We left the car seat sitting in the living room so of course our big cat thought he could sit in it. :D He soon got bored with it & wandered off though.

Was looking through our outgoings again & gave myself a shock when I added up how much we pay out to our loans every month now that the car loans are being repaid. Has made me more determined to stop spending on silly things & try to make a bit extra to overpay on loan no1, which is now under £1500. :j Roughly 10 months until it's paid off now but I'd like to aim for 6 months as it would give us £150 extra a month.

    Hey
I cant believe any company would be funny about when paternity leave starts. Babies have been coming in their own sweet time like, er forever!
I know my OH had already used a week of time off when our son came. I'd ended up taking 5 weeks leave myself. As I went off from 37 weeks, used up holiday before my official mat leave began and then he didnt appear till 18 days post due date!

I know Bob, it's a bit of a weird attitude, they want paternity leave to start on a Monday! Basically it's just to make life easier for them rather than us!

DH has agreed with them that he will start his paternity leave in 2 weeks when I'm booked in for a sweep if baby hasn't arrived by then. Otherwise he's just to let them know when baby is on the way - what else can we/they do? Can't schedule the arrival time.:rotfl:

:rotfl: I know Bob, so many of the policies they have are just paying lip service to things they've been told to do & you often have a fight on your hands to actually get them to implement it. My employer seems to favour the head in the sand, la-la I can't hear you approach & won't give information until you question them.

Just about to get up, will try & get another washing on & hung out as another sunny day. Got the fish pie made yesterday & stuck some potatoes in the oven at the same time for baked potatoes for dinner last night. Once the fish pie cooled DH portioned it out & we played a bit of freezer tetris.:D Got everything in. :j

Hoping to get the bathrooms cleaned today & maybe a bit of tidying. Promised DH I would make him some sort of cake as found chocolate buttercream I'd stuck in the freezer when I made too much a few months ago. So will probably go with a plain loaf type sponge/something easy - maybe a coconut loaf cake would be nice with the chocolate buttercream.

My mum is having her other cataract removed today so DH is picking her up from the hospital on his way home from work. He's a good soul really, as he knows the drive would stress me out.:)
