Hi all, yes DS is hard work but most of the time he is his usual happy self, just seems to be going through a bit of a rough patch just now with his moods. He was much better for my mum yesterday until bedtime when he kicked off again and was screaming and refusing to go upstairs to bed. He does that sometimes when he's really tired so that's probably all it was.

Honeysuckle the coconut loaf cake is so easy and quick - just 1 mug each of self-raising flour, sugar, desiccated coconut and milk into a bowl, give it a stir then pour it into a lined loaf tin and bake for 45 mins- an hour. I usually reduce the sugar a bit and go for 3 quarters of the mug and it still tastes fine.

I found some building blocks of DS's that I had put away upstairs so brought them downstairs the other day along with the bag of musical instruments (tambourines, bells etc) so DS & DD have had fun with those the last 2 days with my mum. DS was never all that interested in building things until starting nursery and now he quite likes building towers. Not as much as he likes knocking them down mind you, I gave up reassembling the duplo cars because he plays with them for 5 mins then pulls them all to pieces and asks me to rebuild them again! 🤦‍♀️

We all had a late start this morning as DH & I were working late shifts, then DD was awake at 1am & 6am crying and DS had a wee cry at 6am as well. DH snored through both of them crying at 6am. Grr. 👀  Luckily DS was settled quite quickly and was more worried about DD, he kept saying the baby's crying mummy, aww that's a shame, poor baby.

DS & DD met my nephew's new baby last week, he is 4 weeks old and still weighs less than either of my two when they were born! DS was absolutely delighted with the baby and said aww he's so cute, aww my baby brother! 😂 I had to explain that the baby was not in fact his baby brother. 😂 He just kept wanting to kiss him and DD was stroking his head, He was watching us all with big wide eyes and was very alert for 4 weeks. ❤️

DH & I are both off work today but back tomorrow so we are having a slow cooked gammon joint with roast potatoes and red cabbage with apple. I made the red cabbage this morning, it's so easy to do and the kids love it. 🤷‍♀️ I had some lovely red roses delivered from DH & the kids for Valentine's day. I think next year I'll do wee cards for the kids and decorate a bit, I just wasn't organised enough this year.

I sold another nappy yesterday but am waiting for the person to pay before I package it up and buy the postage. I'll only get about £3 for it after postage and fees but better than nothing. I also got a message asking about the remaining 3 nappies I have for sale and a lady is going to do a doorstep collection during the week for them. Fingers crossed she shows up as that would be another £12 towards debts.

Yesterday morning I was organised and got the downstairs hoovered, hung a washing up and did the big clean of the litter trays before work. I'm hoping to get the bathrooms cleaned and upstairs hoovered in the next couple of days.

So far today I've only managed to get the nappy wash on, will need to get DS organised for nursery soon. He should be going back to his normal hours at nursery next week as all of the nursery age children plus primary 1-3 are meant to be starting back then.

Feeling quite tired after working 4 days out of the last 5, I normally only work 2 shifts together so it tires me out when I do more. 😂 I can't believe I used to do 7 days in a row, funny what you can get used to.

My remaining cloth nappies for sale were collected this morning and got £12 for them. I sent £2 to my VSP for Christmas and paid £10 off one of the CC's. It's quite reassuring that I've managed to sell all of the nappies I didn't need/use as hopefully it means I'll be able to sell on the rest of the nappies and liners once DD has toilet trained. Some brands hold their value better than others but any money back is better than nothing so I'm quite pleased to have sold some.

The CC that went back up to £1000 after the car expenses is already down to £980 through survey & nappy sale money. I think I should maybe overpay the other BT CC now though as the 0% runs out sooner and the balance is more than double. 🤔

I used an am@zon voucher from one of my survey sites to order toilet roll and ended up only paying £4 for 45 rolls after discount and the gift voucher. 👍 Very boring spend using a voucher but saves some money.

I'm over halfway towards cash out on OP and should be able to cash out again for another voucher on SB soon.

Need to try and do more surveys as it also stops me browsing online shops and ordering things. I'm trying to limit the unnecessary things I'm spending on as I don't actually need anything, I think it's just a bad habit. 👀 I'm allowing myself one thing a month and putting other things I like the look of on a list for presents that I've shared with DH. That also means he'll have a better idea of small things to buy for any occasions.

Have been MIA again due to working early shifts, I hate getting up at 5am, it makes me cranky.

I actually managed to do 20 mins of pilates the other day and I'm feeling sore as I have no core muscles left at all. 😢 I need to try and do some more exercise regularly to build it back up again.

Also got a letter from HMRC today saying that I underpaid tax two years ago(!) and now I have 3 months to pay it back. 😠 Luckily it's not a huge amount but I'm going to have to pay £60 a month for 3 months to pay it back so it's very annoying. Obviously my payroll department at work messed up my wages when I came back from my first maternity leave and changed from full time to job share. 😖

DS is staying overnight with my mum tonight as he's not seen her since the weekend, he's delighted because he'll get to go on the bus to nursery. 😂

I finally bought some compost so I can get my sweet peas started this week, better late than never. My seed potatoes will be arriving in the next couple of weeks so I'll need to buy more for that.

I found the body of a sock monkey I had started last year but never finished. I have now made its tail, arms and ears and attached the tail, so need to attach the arms and ears and then make the face. Once it's done I'll make another one so the kids can have one each, I have a big stash of socks and toy stuffing so might as well start using them up.

Hi Beanie, DS is still talking about going on the bus and seeing a clock tower on the way to nursery. 😂 The tax underpayment is highly annoying.

Today I managed to clean the kitchen worktops properly, wipe the hob down, hand wash 4 lots of dishes plus put the dishwasher on, put a loaf on in the breadmaker, clean the bathrooms, hoover downstairs and do 3 loads of washing. DH stripped the bed and I put the clean sheets back on. I also chucked out a few toiletries that were past their best and/or never going to be used, so my en-suite looks a bit tidier.

Tomorrow I want to hoover upstairs, do my usual daily stuff like the dishes that need to be hand washed and the nappy prewashes and then hopefully get out into the garden. I couldn't get out today as DH was working in the afternoon and it's impossible on my own with the two wee ones, they're just constantly doing something dangerous or annoying each other or annoying me by wrecking my plants!

I can see all the daffodils I planted last year in the new bed in the back garden are up and looking like they're going to bloom soon. I need to get more this autumn for the front garden but I absolutely hate planting bulbs.

I think the wind tunnel effect where I planted my rhubarb crown last year has killed it off as there's no sign of it. 😭 I've got a couple of plants I can probably move from pots into that bed whilst I think of a more suitable location for some rhubarb. 🤔

I think I'll try and do that tomorrow as well as getting some seeds started. I need to see what I have as can't remember apart from sweet peas and some petunias. I might grow some tomatoes this year as we took a break from them last year. Will do the usual cucumber, courgette, potatoes and runner beans anyway. I'm hoping DS might be a bit more interested this year as he can understand a bit more.

  • It’s that wonderful time  of year when you can get sowing! Sunflowers are good with little ones as the seeds are bigger and easier to handle and lots of growth to keep them interested.
