  • Aww congratulations to you all :smileyhea
  • Thats lovely news. Congratulations on the safe delivery of your little girl. Its hard for a toddler to get used to someone else sharing their parent's attention. Takes a wee while but he soon won't remember life before baby! Hope you make a quick recovery.

  • Congratulations that's lovely news :D.

My third baby was nearly born in the car on the way to hospital and I didn't have time for any pain relief as he was born the minute I arrived in the labour ward, so I empathise with your experience!

Lack of sleep is the worst thing in the early days but they do settle down eventually. Will your family be able to help out when DH goes back to work?

    Hi all, thanks. :D

I still can't believe how different this birth was compared to my first with DS. I was expecting to have another long labour but obviously the pessaries kicked in after the sweep and my body had other ideas. I was clawing at the bed covers and trying not to scream as I was still in the ward for most of the extremely fast contractions and there were 3 other ladies in the room trying to sleep. I was so grateful when I finally got the gas and air even though it was only for the last 5/10 mins - HH I don't know how you coped with no pain relief at all.

DH has been very good, sorting out the housework and helping with both DS and DD. He is gutted that he missed the birth but it was so quick he never would have made it on time. :( I was shaking for ages afterwards with the adrenalin.

I'm lucky that my mum will be able to help me out when DH goes back to work. :) She works 2-3 shifts a week but will be around to help if I need it.

The lack of sleep is hard going but it will get better, just a shock to the system going through it again. :o Poor DS is still a bit confused but mostly wants to kiss his little sister so that's good. He doesn't seem jealous (yet).

Getting our shopping delivered soon and then we're going to take DS out for a drive as he's desperate to get out. Wish I was feeling a bit better and would take him myself but too sore to do much yet.

DH is like a bear with a sore head today and keeps shouting at DS for silly things. I think I might eb*y him as he's annoying me by being so grouchy for no reason.

Thanks SA, I was hoping for a girl but was actually pretty sure I would have another boy. DH was so shocked when he saw that the baby was wearing a wee pink hat. :)

Yes it's going to be hard going for a while.

DH took DS for a drive yesterday whilst I had a rest on the couch & DD snoozed in her Moses basket next to me. It was nice to have a rest. :) DH out of his grumpy mood thankfully.

Today we went for a walk in the park, I was exhausted after 15/20 mins so we were only out for around half an hour. DS still had fun running around though & enjoyed getting out of the house.

The midwife did her second visit & is happy to come back on day 10, to most likely discharge us, as both baby & I doing well. :)

My milk started coming in last night, omg the pain. I never got any milk through at all with DS so wasn't really prepared for it. I'm still really sore :( Trying not to express much as not going to BF, really struggled last time but as I said my milk didn't actually come in so that explains it!

One of my friends from work dropped round to see us as well. DS was delighted as he loves her. :D She brought presents for the kids & food for DH & I. :T I also won the work bonus ball, so she brought the cash round from that too. :j £47 but handed £10 back for the next 10 payments, still got £37 though. :j

Planning on getting a bit more rest tomorrow.

  • Cabbage leaves are useful for pain relief when milk comes in or engorgement. Sounds odd I know but has worked every time. Just put the leaf inside the bra and it eases the pain.

It's lovely that your DH is taking time to take DS out. Make the most of rest opportunities!

Thanks for the cabbage leaf tip, Honeysuckle. Feeling a bit better today, not so hard and sore.

DH is a bit worried in case DS feels left out of things, so is trying his best to give him a bit more attention. It's nice for me to have a bit of peace as DS is very loud and grumpy at the moment with the terrible twos.:rotfl: His emotions seem to be all over the place!

Dancing, DS is fascinated by his little sister and mostly just wants to kiss her. :D He has, however, also put a load of toys in the Moses basket (whilst she was in it ), ran a toy bus up and down her and tried to pinch her cheeks to name but a few of his gestures of affection. :rotfl: I know he doesn't mean to hurt her and is too young to understand but we do have to keep quite a close eye on what he's doing when he's near her.

I'm feeling pretty tired & bit stressed with DS, he's so up & down atm. :( Baby is lovely & definitely enjoying the snuggles though.
