Yeah, there wasnt much in the price between my Samsung and the Miele that was in the sale. What swung it for me was the energy efficiency rating. The Miele wasnt nowhere near as energy efficient.

but you have to look at the long term. Whats the point in having to replace a machine every 5 years?

Too much obsession with water/energy efficiency is compromising wash performance and times.

But we have a Samsung 12kg/8kg washer drier, I love it, it works really well (except that drying times are measured in centuries)
  • I have a Samsung Eco bubble and its the best washer I've ever had. Two years old and just as good now as it was the first day. I was/am amazed how well it cleans clothes (my ex was a car mechanic so you can't imagine how hard it is to clean diesel and whatever out of clothes), never had any damaged (have with previous washers). It does a full load at 103 mins (the diesel clothes reuired a long wash), 30 degrees and all the clothes come out as clean as you could wish even with food stains on them. The quick wash is good too. So rather than damaging clothes, my son who loves fleece items for their softness costs less to keep now because I'm not having to replace bubbled fleece items (he has ASD and is a lot less stressed wearing the soft clothes he prefers).

No I have never worked for Samsung lol.

Bosch.., would never buy again. Lasted just as long as the warranty and then refused to work again. Wasn't cheap either.

I find this site very useful as it is run by engineers who are very enthusiastic about the subject of whitegoods http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/buying-advice/washing-machine/3049-the-best-washing-machine

These are a complete waste of time, as the standard programmes are rigged to give high efficiency ratings. But since these use less water and take 3 times longer, almost all users simply override them by using the 'speed' or 'acqua' settings that the manufacturers have fitted to cancel out the 'eco' settings. It's an absurd system.
