Not buying any clothes 2017

  • Oh sugarations,I bought a top today. BUT,it was £45 in Debenhams up to 70% off sale,so was down to £10.20 ,and a friend who was shopping with me had 20% off voucher,so I paid £8.16.
Really it would have been rude to have left it and I will get quite a lot of wears per £1.
It will really extend my current wardrobe combination.

  • Hi everyone. I'm a newbie but would love to join this thread as my clothes buying is getting out of hand.
I'm going to try to go for the whole year without buying anything new except underwear and socks.
Hoping this thread will keeps me on the straight and narrow especially as I have a clothesaholic friend who i go shopping with on average once a month.

I never have any difficulty going many, many months without buying clothes. I bought some in January but prior to that I hadn't bought any for maybe 18 months.

    My secret?

    Being a bloke.;)

I think I must secretly be a bloke LOL
The last clothing I bought was 2 new swimming cosies in July as hubs paid for them for my birthday. I was going to take my two 30 year old cosies on hols but when I got them out of the drawer, the elastic had perished...Previous to that,I went mad and bought several pairs of shorts from the charity shop around may time as I live in shorts from April to about end of September..
This year, so far nothing and no plans to buy anything but I am eyeing up several things in the drawers for possible reincarnation (refashioning via the sewing machine).

Headed to a couple of chazzers today and walked straight past the clothes, not in the slightest bit tempted!

Not that I had any success with the books either.

Eta: just realised I told a lie. I left my gloves on the train today so bought a replacement pair from Poundland. 4 weeks in and I've failed already! :o

  • Hi can I join in please, I have loads of clothes but problem is I've put a bit of weight on so most of them are uncomfortably tight so my goal is to lose the weight and wear what I have. Made a start and joined the old style weight loss board so hoping this will give me the incentive and save some money at the same time.

That doesn't count!! It's not that you bought some gloves cos you fancied some, it was a necessity.

I've not even thought about buying anything so far.

I have a rather interesting situation.

I have just won a £200 gift card for the Xscape in MK. This is an entertainment and shopping area, containing the cinema, sno-zone (artificial ski-ing slope I think), climbing wall, and a sort of air tunnel thingy for "flying" as well as a selection of eateries and clothing shops, these being mainly dedicated to sports and outdoors.

The cinema is excluded from the gift card, as they have their own scheme.
I am disabled, so the "activities" are not do-able for me.
I dislike eating out, and even if we do eat out, we don't go to fast-food places, or any of the type of restaurants that they have there - tapas bar, American style diner etc.

So..... my thought was to invest in some decent wet-weather gear for dog-walking. I'm a Carer for a home-from-home dog-sitting service, so I spend a lot of time with other peoples' dogs in my home, some of whom want l-o-n-g walkies, even in the wet - and currently, I borrow Mr LW's wet-weather gear, which is considerably too large for me!

Good idea, do you think? :o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

An even better one when you claim the gear as a business expenses (which it legitimately is).
