Not buying any clothes 2017

MaryB - I found a couple of lawn full length slips in a CS last year & they made lovely nightdresses, especially as they had bra shaped tops with adjustable straps. I buy full slips when I can as they make pretty 'vests' if they're shortened too.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Hello there. Can I join in please. I know it's April but I've only just found you. My wardrobe is bursting at the seams. I only go out if I have to and I work in a farm so nothing needed there.
Last year I lost 3 stone so had to buy everything new even undies. I also discovered a love of shopping which has landed me with £4000 of debt so my challenge is to pay this off and not buying clothes will certainly help that xx0 -
Welcome and well done on the weight loss. With so much new stuff (what a great excuse, though!) you're well placed to take on this challenge - good luck with the debt bustingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

The shawl is going back, making my spend so far this year £2 (on 2 pairs of gloves).VfM4meplse wrote: »I've made a decision: these are going back, bringing my spend down to £10.
The jury's still out on the shawl.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Got two anniversary dinners to go to in July - with members of the same family. Saw a dress I liked but it wasn't fully lined so I wavered. Managed to get an equally nice Phase Eight dress in a CS for £12.00. Result! I will be wearing one of the dresses I wore for the last anniversary 'do' but only cos the family at these two won't have seen it lol!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I still haven't spent any more than the £9.50 for the puffa jacket and ankle boots but I did, out of curiousity, just spend a few minutes looking at the excel spreadsheets of my annual expenditures.
Realised I haven't input 2016 yet (:o) but I have the data for the 19 years to 2015, for my clothing and footwear (includes accessories) category.
My spendiest year was 2003 at £509.36, my thriftiest year was 2015 at £17.83 and my annual average has been £199.13 which equals £3.83 per week.
I haven't bought a huge amount of Stuff, the spendier years can easily be accounted for by things like footwear.
Not planning to buy any more clothing for the foreseeable, I have plenty.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm afraid I've not followed through with not buying any clothes this year.
But I have tried to stick to sales items.
Bought 3 tops from White Stuff sale, I like their clothes as they seem to last .
Also a pair of trousers for £28, reduced from £58 from an independent boutique in my local town-(I bought my wedding dress from there over 30 years ago!).
Also some cheapies from Peacocks, trousers and a top.
Only just over £100 for the lot, which divided by 7 months, is under £15 a month.0 -
I have lots of clothes and shoes mainly stored under the bed. I am going to start to have another massive clear out (sort out my next capsule collection to wear for A/W not quite sure how many items that will be 30 max ) and then sell the remaining on e£bay or maybe give some to charity to spread the joy :-)
So my plan will be to sell what I can and then this becomes my budget for a new season. I have become really strict with needs rather than wants with lots of the impressive not spending posts/stories I read here.
You ladies are doing so well! I will post here and add to my signature any spends but hopeful for this to be minimal.
Hopefully I wont fall off the wagon too much from Aug - December :-)
