    When I had LBM

    CC1 was£ 4572.89
    Now. £ 3879.27
    Paid off £693.62

    Cc2 was £1550.53
    Now. £1208.26
    Paid off £342.27

    I have paid in 6 months £1035.89.

I have in my emergency fund
    £1200

    Holiday fund £100

This six months has made me think so hard about spending money. I haven't used the credit cards in 7 months.
Have bought new clothes twice and spent around £150 .

I have savings a first for me in a long time, I don't use my overdraft which i did regularly but only for small amounts.

I could probably do more scrimping but feel ok on what I am doing at the moment.

I have 3 weekends starting next week , that are going to be costly in terms of petrol and eating out. I think I am going to have to dip into emergency fund, I will only know as time goes on. I have £100 in holiday fund but am hoping to use that at the end of August, only time will tell.

Haven't really been out socially for a fortnight, I am using the gym as my entertainment at the moment, by going to classes in the evening . Have friends round to visit instead.

This week however I have a trip to local town meeting up with old friends which could be spendy , Thursday night theatre , but this was mega cheap because of who I know. Then the weekends of being out for the day.

My reflection after 6 months is that having different pots for everything has been the way forward for me.

I have bought more Xmas presents this week with money from that pot. Once I have spent an allotted amount then that's it gone, till next month.

I find having cash no good to me , I like to use my bank cards .

Anyhow hope the next six months is as good.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

it's like talking to yourself . However it does track my successes . I will see .

I get that feeling as well, but I'm aware plenty people are looking at the thread, so I keep posting.

Having individual pots for separate budgets certainly worked for me years ago when money was much tighter than it is now. You seem to be finding it works for you too and not using a credit card for 7 months is great. You also seem to be managing a few trips and a holiday but within budget and without borrowing to do it so that is excellent.

Many of us read the diaries threads but don't necessarily comment so don't think you are talking to yourself. Looking back on bad weeks or good weeks can give you a kick up the backside or a pat on the back when things are tough whichever is needed at the time ;)

I have a dear little GD too, she is 21 months old and such a lovely age. I have her one day a week too to help my daughter out with childcare when she is working and love looking after her so nice to read about you enjoying your grandchildren too.

Enthusiastic saver , thank you for your observations much appreciated. In the past it has been the weekends away , days out not budgeted for that have been part of my failings moneywise .

Now though, I have cut back on a lot of weekends , or as I am doing now just going for the day. One friend doesn't like people staying with her so it's always a hotel bill as well as petrol . Now I just go for a long day. I am used to her not wanting people staying she has always been
    Ike that !

Grandchildren are the best and wouldn't have it any other way .

NSD today . Aqua fit later .

Had to spend today I bought some stamps . Also paid £50 deposit on a little break in September with friends doing a hobby I enjoy. I had the money left over from last payday well £40 and £10 from entertainment pot.

Needs to be paid by end of August £76 will be ok with that split in 2 , may just take out of entertainment pot for next 2 months.
