Old Lloyds TSB Card

hi all,

i have been looking through my credit file as i am trying to sort my debts out and get my affiars in order. i can see on my file that there is an old Lloyds TSB CC on my account, this was before the bank split into Lloyds and TSB. i can see which address it is registared too as well. i know have a basic account with Lloyds. as there is no outstanding balance on this account and it would appear that no one has closed it, would Lloyds be able to send me a new cc for that account or direct me to TSB if it is with them? i dont have any debts with Lloyds or TSB btw and due to my level of income and debts i am applying for a DRO.

  • If your account stayed with Lloyds then it is probable that your credit card also stayed with them.
If it is not showing on your list of accounts in internet banking then assume that the account is closed.

If you are entering into a DRO I hope that Lloyds don't issue you with a card because it means you will have more debt and you are not allowed to ask for further credit once one has been granted.
  • I really dont think you read my post properly, the card is still showing as active on my credit file therefore i know it has not been closed. However my issue is that it still has an old address on it and i dont know which bank it has gone to since Lloyds TSB split so the account could be at either Lloyds or TSB.

Also the limit on this card is under the threshold to apply for credit so even if my DRO was already active (i am still at the applying stage) it wouldnt matter. Not that that is ang of your business. Also as i dont have any debts at either Lloyds or TSB i can still have an old account if it is open and in good standing (which it always been) and wouldnt effect me in that sense.

    I have a former Lloyds/TSB credit card.
On Experian it is now shown as Lloyds.
On Equifax it is shown as Lloyds formerly Lloyds/TSB.
In any event, it is very clear which bank it has gone to.
If you are still unsure, try posting the first 6 digits of the card number and somebody may be able to tell you.

To address your original question, if the account is still open and you call then to update your address, then they probably will agree to issue you a new card although I imagine this may depend on additional factors and they may decide to run a credit check.

You don't know that, you're just presuming it. There is no LloydsTSB anymore, so the credit file record is out of date. If the old credit card really is still active then it's either Lloyds or TSB, but it's definitely not LloydsTSB. If the credit file is showing the wrong bank name, then it's possible that the whole record is wrong and the card account is not active.

Don't build your hopes on this being a successful outcome.

If you have a new type basic account with Lloyds then that would have been provided due to financial difficulties and/or failed credit check for a standard classic account.

If they feel they are unable to provide you with a standard current account, they are unlikely to provide you with an alternative line of credit.

Good advice from PPs, especially Ben about posting the first 6 digits of the CC to identify which bank it is with.
