Vodafone Smart First 7 - Not Enough Space!

So i bought one of these, a really cheap smartphone. I'm happy with it in all other respects as it does all I need and is a comfortable size to be portable.

However, it comes loaded with apps you can't move or remove (as normal). But the problem is that, with updates (which will only increase), the available space is a real problem. I'm already down to 250mb remaining after 1 round of obligatory updates.

I don't see any alternative byut to have to return this, which is a shame, because it's completely useless as a result. There's no way i'm going to be able to operate without space. I have a 16gb sd card and in all other respects i'm happy with it, but the lack of space and factory apps are a real problem.

If you'd done a little research you'd have seen it only has 4GB memory. It's not really designed for people who intend to add numerous apps, it's more like a first phone for someone who only uses Facebook and the stock apps.

Look for a phone with 16GB memory if you intend to use more apps.

Additionally, once you get below 200MB you can't install new apps or update existing apps. Everything aborts with 'insufficient space' error message.
  • I have a Smart Ultra 6 and almost all of the 'bloatware' can be removed, you also have the choice of installing apps to the SD card to free up space.

What exactly do you want the forum to do ?. You bought just about the cheapest smart phone available expecting it to be a good product.

Return it pay more and get one that suits your needs

You've not listened, nor have you addressed the question I asked.

The size of the memory is not the issue, i have a 16gb sd card inserted.

Why is it that people on here do not actually read the messages they respond to?

The issue is that you cannot remove or move the stock apps. I don't need or want half of them, other apps that i have installed have been moved to the sd card so they are not a problem.

I'm at a loss as to why people on a forum for bargains would use this as an excuse to criticise someone getting a bargain. Sneering at people because they didn't know that the 4gb of memory contained more stock apps than it could handle (despite asking the vodafone rep in the shop, twice - nice of you all to assume i didn't) is as childish as it is unwelcome.

The phone does suit my needs, as I clearly stated in the first line of my message. The problem isn't that it doesn't do what I want, the problem is that it has stock apps that can't be moved and, because they require constant updating (like all software) will consume more memory than the phone comes with.

Why don't you address that, rather than behave passive aggressively?

Yes, the apps that come with the phone take up a lot of space and cannot be moved.

The solution is to avoid buying phones with a tiny memory as to all intents and purposes they become unusable in short order.
  • What a lovely attitude on here. Great advert for consumer rights. sneering at people.
