Threading is where a therapist uses sewing thread which is twisted around the hair and its pulled out. It's something that has long been used in India. The results are the same as waxing so I guess it's a matter of preference. I've been having mine threaded for about 13 years now, so long before threading became mainstream - I like to think I'm a trendsetter!!!!!
I get mine done at a place where there are about 8 Indian women crammed into a tiny shop where they are all threading eyebrows. Most don't speak much English so they tend to bark one worded demands at you like 'hold' (to pull your skin taut) or 'leave' (when they want you to let go. Then they'll 'offer' to do the rest of your face, so you feel crappy about then finding hair that you didn't even know you had!
I only put up with it because they charge £2:money:
I'm not selling it very well, am I?0 -
I've never had threading but can recommend waxing. That's usually about £8.
I smiled at your description of the Indian ladies chanie . It sounds like my Vietnamese people who do my nails! They don't have much English either.
Thoroughly enjoyed my massage and facial today. I'm not sure that it does any more for my skin than I can do myself but it's sooo relaxing to be pampered.:)0 -
I'm an eyebrow waxer too, I also have my eyelashes dyed as they are brownish, but the tips are blonde!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Not sure quite what to make of the threading tales. I just pluck mine, but they are so sparse now it only takes a minute or two to tidy up a couple of stragglers.
Apparently very sparse eyebrows, especially the final "third" is a sign of hypothyroidism........allegedly.
I have been having some dizzy spells this week. Again possibly linked. Anyway I've had blood tests today so it's wait and see.
My friend went back today. We Had a lovely time although north Derbyshire was bitterly cold. We even had some sleet, too cold for snow. :rotfl:
I am off out for the day again tomorrow so need to have an early night. I am quite tired but at least I won't be driving tomorrow.
Don't forget Fab Friday tomorrow. Enjoy.0 -
TF - I have my eyebrows waxed every few months, but last time they did a bit if threading too. I much preferred the wax tbh, I have a similar issue with not being able to see due to glasses, but once it is done I can do the odd stray hair.
Chanie - the threading ladies in the local shopping centre charge £10 for 'whole face' so that £2 is a bargain
I finally had my hair dyed yesterday, she has done a superb job. The brief was a colour that would hide my grey, and that would limit the visibility of regrowth. She went with a pale brown all over with very fine blonde highlights, its really subtle and exactly what I wanted for my mid length hair. Time will tell if my regrowth shows quickly, I usually have grey roots after a fortnight. DS1 (14yo) said, unprompted, that my hair looked nice and that it made me look younger!'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Pleased you liked your new hair cut and that DS1 approves.
I did my bread making course today, which I enjoyed. We made about 4 different types of bread, all with the same dough. The course taught me the basics so I know what to do to make bread.0
