LL thanks so much for taking the time to post all that; your post tucked so many boxes with me in terms of symptoms and triggers and I'll definitely be taking your advice on board.
Hex thank you, too - again I can completely identify with what you say, particularly about the "fog"
Today I've been keeping the pain at bay with ibuprofen but I really don't want to make a habit of that - I aim to cut out wheat for the next week, to begin with, to see if there's an improvement. I've been so, so busy lately and I think it's taken it's toll but I've managed to rest quite a bit today and am tucked up in bed for an early night now - although I too need a new mattress as I suspect ours is too firm.
Sorry for hijacking the thread with this; it's just that I'd rather get advice from people who are actually experiencing the symptoms and dealing with them; my GP is very cost aware and I've absolutely no doubt that he would advise otc painkillers.
Have a good week everyone - back soon x
ETA - LL, I have The Highly Sensitive person on my kindle but haven't read it yet. I also love what you say about avoiding negativity and not being a news junke; these things definitely have a bad effect on me.0 -
No problem Ellsbel. Glad to help. In fact it's my mission to spread the gospel of natural healing and less reliance on big pharma.
Hex is right about diet. I know I bang on about the success I have had with the paleo way of eating but it's definitely worth a try. If it doesn't help then you've lost nothing. Google Fodmap and Paleo autoimmune protocol.
Also try adding more alkaline foods to your diet to reduce any excess acid which might be triggering inflamation.
Right time for bed. Nighty night.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I had a good visit with my daughter and her husband yesterday. I came home with an upset stomach though which was not good. It is better this morning, but I am not fully recovered.
I am doing 5km Race for Life on 27th May, so I am trying to fund raise for it. Am I allowed to put the link for my Cancer Research UK fundraising page on here?
I have been doing Race for Life for the past 5 years, so this will be my 6th year.
I never raise a lot of money, but every single pound that I do manage to raise makes a real difference to Cancer Research UK.0 -

I'm sure that's not a problem sugarbaby. I've seen other similar posts and it's not as if you're selling anything. I admire you doing it.:T
I decided to go for a pedicure today. I've been having chiropody treatments for the last few months as I bought a 6 session package but that's over now. I thought as my feet were in such good shape I'd have a pedicure instead through the summer. It's far more mse and it includes polish and I get to sit in the lovely massage chair. Now all I need is some warm weather so I can show off my pretty feet.:D0 -
Hello Laides,
Could I kindly ask you to sponsor me for Race for Life 2017
This will be my 6th year. My eldest sister lost her battle with stomach cancer some years ago and 2 of my brothers are currently cancer survivors. I decided to do Race for Life for the 1st time when I heard that my 2 elder brothers had cancer. I just wanted to do my own small bit to help Cancer Research UK with their invaluable work, apart from my monthly donation.
I would suggest a donation of £1 is adequate but of course there is no upper limit should you feel inclined to donate more

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.
Well, today I got my hair done and what a difference it has made. New style, lovely colour and will be so much easier to manage (thanks for the advice). have made an appointment to go back in six weeks,
I have got myself into a routine in the morning. I have even written it down step by step so I don't forget anything. Silly I know but I reckon it will become second nature after a while. Whilst at the hairdresser I compiled one for the evening and one for once a week things as well.
Been making an effort with my new clothes, The're not glamorous (yet:)) but I do look so much smarter and I've been wearing perfume, pale nail polish and earrings every day (basic make up if I'm going somewhere).
Had lunch with my sister in law and cousin. My cousin was telling me that she has her hair done twice a week, nails once a week and has a pedicure and facial once a fortnight. Afraid I can't afford all that so I'll just have to learn to do it myself.
OH and I have been out every day. Couple of times it just been for a walk locally but we've gone further afield twice and had lunch.
So plans for next week:
Continue with what I've started.
Sort out my clothes, toiletries, make up and jewellery.
Start loosing weight. A pound a week will do but nothing's going to happen until I address what I'm eating and drinking. With that in mind bought fruit and low cal drinks today.
Hope you lovely ladies are all having a wonderful time.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Hi Toni'sfriend! That's a good start with the hair, I'm booked in for my first professional dye in years later this week as I am losing the fight against my grey roots. I'm with you on the can't afford to do all that but then I found a happy medium which is the local beauty college which is very reasonable. I still don't run to all those treatments (and actually wouldn't have the time) but I try and have something done every month. My local college is £21 for facial (£11), manicure and pedicure (£10).'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

I'm glad your hair appointment turned out well toni's friend (now going to nickname you TF if you don't mind).
I'm amazed that your cousin can have her hair done twice a week. I thought that had stopped when shampoo and set went out! I remember my mother used to go weekly and then midweek for a comb out! These days I think it's far more common to have a really good cut and then do it yourself in between. Lucky people even have wash and go hair but I'm not one of them.:( It's a good idea to make another appointment for 6 weeks time. I'm guilty of letting my hair go just that little bit too long between cuts and then I regret not making the appointment.
I don't think you're silly making lists of treatments. I know lots of people who like lists and many like pretty notebooks to write them in. I think it's organised and efficient and a great idea.
If I include my nails I probably have a treatment at least once a month but they're not madly expensive. I'm going for a facial and massage this afternoon but it was Groupon so not full price. I bought 2 more as well this week to use over the next few months. Groupon had a 15% off code so they're even better value. In between the professional treatments I try to keep up with all the skincare stuff. It has become a routine now and varies depending on how much time I have.
I was full of enthusiasm before Easter for sorting through my wardrobe, getting rid of winter things I don't wear much and looking through summery things. Unfortunately the weather, while bright, has turned chilly so it's a job still waiting to be done. I'll put it on my list!:D0 -
Firstly a big thank you to anyone who has sponsored me for Race for Life 2017, I and Cancer Research UK greatly appreciate your generosity. :T
I went to Karaoke last night and had a very good evening. It did not cost me anything, as the wine bar was not too hot as usual, I did not work up a thirst so I did not bother to buy any bottled water.
It was surprised to find the weather had turned so cold, so it was back to layers. I wore a red Kaleidoscope vest top that has lots of single diamante decorating the front and a really intricate cut out design on the back. I wore my black Kaleidoscope cardigan with the black satin rose and a lined black, gored pull on skirt, with my long black leather jacket, black woolen scarf, my black leather gloves and my black leather ankle boots. I was carrying my black patent leather Osprey handbag. I layered my perfume with the matching body lotion, but I did not bother to wear any make up.0 -
Sugarbaby - Your outfit sounds lovely. Good luck with your fundraising.
Maman - Want to try to keep the hair looking nice hence making the appointment. It was so different even my son noticed. I would like to get a proper manicure once my nails get in better condition but the one thing I would really like is to have my eyebrows done properly. I wear glasses and can't see to do them. The're not too bad but would benefit from some professional care. Which is best - waxing or threading? In fact what is threading?
By the way, don't mind being called TF at all.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0
