I really like those bracelets chanie
Your date sounds fun, too.
LL hope your back is feeling a bit better.
This is the first week in over a month that I'm just working my normal two days - I've been doing a lot of cover due to staffing issues - it's a nice job to have for two days a week, but more than that and it's quite mentally draining so I'm really valuing having my free time back to concentrate on giving myself some TLC (as well as catching up with the housework!)
I've been having my nails done with gel. So they're still looking good, my hair is growing really quickly though so I'll be needing to get the highlights touched up again very soon.
I've bought a couple of nice tops recently that suit work or going out - no more now till I come down another size; I'm still working on lowering carb heavy foods, but not finding it too easy when I'm cooking for three hungry guys! At least the pains I had so badly a couple of weeks ago have mostly subsided, although I still feel very tired a lot.
I'm going to fit in a gentle gym session today and I also want to declutter at least one cupboard - "stuff" is slowly beginning to overtake us again!
Have a good day all.0 -
Good to see you posting ellsbel.
Unless you need to go back to the hairdresser for a cut I'd recommend John Frieda's lightening spray
http://www.johnfrieda.co.uk/ProductDetail/Hair-Care/Sheer-Blonde/Go-Blonder-Controlled-Lightening-Spray
I've used it when darker roots are growing through to prolong highlights.
For the lower carb eating I'd recommend that you do loads of veg with any appropriate meals then you can choose those and leave the carbs for the guys. I almost always put our veg in serving dishes at the table. That way I can have leftovers for my lunch the following day and it does encourage others to eat a bit healthier too. I really enjoy cold meat, fried veg and pickles. It's like all my Boxing Days have come at once!:D
I'm out for lunch today and I'm going to try to have a healthy meal. I've decided on no wine so that's a start. I'm going dancing later and lunchtime drinking always makes me sleepy. I've decided to wear a long pleated skirt (sort of orangey/flesh colour) with a black top and probably my black velvet jacket.
It's dull but dry here. I wish the summer would start consistently. 6 weeks today I'll be waking up in my holiday apartment.0 -
Good morning lovely ladies.
Lovely bracelet chanie...I do like Jewllery but I only wear one or two pieces at a time. The Christmas tree look is soooo not a good one. :rotfl: your Go Ape day sounds like fun.
"Can't pay will take it away" is one of my sons favourite programmes,(that and Police Interceptors - he's a bloke:rotfl:). I know this might sound a bit contentious but do they have to live like pigs, same with all the benefit programmes.
I was brought up in quite a poor household, money was always tight and I know there were times when my parents feared a visit from the bailiffs - especially when dad lost his business but the house was always spotless. I know my parents struggled with debt. Times were hard back then. But they were proud and careful to "put on a good show".
Mum used to say "soap and water doesn't cost much". No fancy gadgets or appliances, no fitted carpets, she would go down on her hands and knees and scrub the Lino and then polish it afterwards. Bless her she may not have had much money but the house gleamed and she always managed a bit of Lippy and a squirt of her favourite perfume.
I know that being in debt is depressing and it can be a struggle to maintain standards when you are depressed but I do think that living in squalor and neglecting our person can only makes us feel worse.
It's still very cold here. Off to B&Q in a bit. My back is getting better but still very stiff so have booked a massage for tomorrow. Dentist on Friday....:eek:0 -
Thanks for the tips, maman
I'd not heard of the John Frieda spray; it'll save me a few quid if it means I can leave longer between hairdresser visits!:money:
Also for the eating advice - I'm making a bolognese sauce tonight but will have veggies instead of pasta with mine; I like the idea of using leftover veg for lunch, too, I'll try this as I don't always fancy a salad when it's not very warm outside
I spoke too soon about liking my nails! One of the gels completely peeled off earlier whilst I was simply washing my hands; it lasted exactly one week, so I'm disappointed - especially as I liked the colour! I'm popping back to the salon tomorrow to have the others soaked off. To be honest though, if they charge me for the soak off I think I'll go elsewhere next time; the salon is on the expensive side anyway and I would have expected the gel to last longer than a week. I'm toying with the idea of buying a gel kit and doing them myself, actually!0 -
Elsbel, I have highlights every 4 months - my hairdresser comes & does my roots every month to reduce the cost. I have found that having taken my roots colour a little than it was 12 months ago has also given a better, longer-lasting look.
Actually, on the hair subject - it is highlight time on Friday, and as my roots are coming through grey with silver, I am considering having a silver highlight put through with the other two colours. My base colour is dirty blonde, with slightly ash & golden highlights. Would this look ok or slightly ageing? I am 53, and don't want to look muttonish!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I'm an eyebrow waxer too, I also have my eyelashes dyed as they are brownish, but the tips are blonde!
I am a waxer - if I have to choose between afford a couple of luxuries, waxing is a non-negotiable one! I bought a waxing kit to try and do it myself at home though and ended up burning myself (luckily tried it on my legs first so it was easy to hide rather than my face)
Ironically, I was advised that it was because the wax was not hot enough on application....0
