Have a great time at Balmer Lawn sukey. I pass there often.:)

The hoodie sounds like clothes to suit the occasion chanie so it's allowed.:D

I went to the CS for cards today and bought 2 skirts:o. One is a White Stuff pale, apple green linen plain but with a patterned waistband. The other is a gorgeous Nicole Farhi silk chiffon all floaty and lovely. It's floral on a black background so would do for day or evening.

    The sun's come out here.:D

Maman thanks for the advice about my hair - we had a good chat this morning, and I have had an ash toner put on after the highlights, then the plan is to repeat the highlight & toner when required rather than roots every month so my natural highlights grow through. I love it, and it will be easier to keep up too!

That's good to hear floss . I often have a half head highlights when the roots grow through. Probably similar cost to less frequent full head. :)

Oh what is it with these hipster beards. Even my sensible DS1 has succumbed. I think they are horrible and it makes my son look years older than he is.

Yes I hate them. And They all have them. Give me a clean shaven man every time........

Well I'm going to go against the grain here. I adore clothes and "wondrous variety" so now that I have a bit of spare money at last I won't be going for a capsule wardrobe.

I do tend to have a bit of a signature look in that I know what suits me and stick to a sort of formula, block colours, no pattern and fairly tailored, no frills or flounces however I do like to lots of choice.

In my defence I don't spend a lot (honest Gov). I have just bought 4 evening dresses from eBay for £35 the lot. Yes quite naughty - who needs 4 new dresses :rotfl: but they are gorgeous and because I go for classic styles and avoid anything gimmicky they will last for years.

I spent so long going without that's it's nice to finally indulge myself a little.

    So there!!!

I know what you mean about the beards... so ageing. And if there's one thing I like less than men with beards it's bald headed men with big beards. It just looks like they are over-compensating for the lack of hair on the top of the head.

As for the wardrobe, don't get me wrong, once I am down to a weight I plan to say I shall be treating myself to some fun dresses. I am just trying not to go too crazy with the spending whilst I am en route to the goal - don't want to give myself too much incentive to stop part way through the journey and want to be able to really afford to splash out when I get there.
Well Indie and Sugar baby......here you both are with men in your lives again. Go you. Have some fun. Why not but don't forget to protect your hearts, try not to fall too hard and too fast.

Says she who fell hook line and sinker on the first date but then went on to have 32 years of happy marriage. :D

A funny thing has happened, I have realised that I am actually happy, not just surviving and getting through the day but genuinely happy and looking forward to my future.

My old joire de vie has returned. All the bad stuff, the long years of his illness no longer haunt me, I have finally been able to let go of all those sad memories and can now look back and smile at all the good times.

The funny thing is now that I have reached this stage of peace and serenity, now that my heart is open and my spirit is free, I feel that he is closer to me than ever. I feel his presence and that he is still with me, in my heart and in my head, guiding me.

I know That all sounds a bit new age - hippy b o l l o c k s as my charming DS2 would say.:rotfl: I'm not religious as such but I do think there is "something" out there and that my husband is still around in the ether, watching over me.

    Anyway it's all good ........

Glad to hear your joie de vivre has made a return - just in time for your holiday too.

Don't worry, I am going to try to keep a bit more of an emotional distance at first this time. I've been following blogs and vlogs on Matthew Hussey's website and he gives lots of good advice about about dating.

One was that when you look back on a failed relationship the signs were there early on of the issues and you chose to ignore them, and thinking about it, he is absolutely right. So I am going to do my best not to make up my mind too quickly "this is the one" and then dismiss any little warning signs I might be wrong.

Another thing he said was that with internet dating, your first date is about finding out if this is someone you'd like to go on a date with. Some people have misleading profile photos and some people come across very different in person to what they do on line and it's only when you meet them in person you get a real sense of what they are like. So that was last night - finding out if he was someone I'd like to go on a date with. Nothing more significant than that.

He also says only to invest in people to the extent they invest in you, rather than based on how much you like them. I could have done with hearing that when I was with the real tennis player - I loved him so much I ended up doing almost all the work. Too scared to find out whether he would call me if I didn't call him, truth be told.

So, even though part of me is dying to message him and find out how his day went (he had an important appointment re a financial assessment for a flat he is hoping to buy), I am holding back. I've made it clear I would like to see him again and he's said he would like to see me too and will get in touch with suggestions, so I will just wait for that message and I can be friendly then.

Just got to distract myself in the meantime... Could do with doing a pedicure and manicure so that will get me to get my hands off my phone.:rotfl:

Indiepanda me & DH met on the internet in February 2003, but didn't meet up face-to-face until 6 April. Because we gad emailed, and then spoke on the phone before we actually met, we both felt that we had a solid foundation when we did meet up. I moved 50 miles in 2006 to move in with him, and we married 4 years later on the anniversary of his proposal :D I think your mentor is right, take it slow :)

  • Hi, thank you for the welcomes :-)

Beards. Can't stand the things. It's a little bit lazy in my opinion... we are expected to shave/wax ourselves within an inch of our life yet the lads get away with not even being bothered to put a razor to their face! lol

May not be on much for a few days as we are off on holiday! Our first one in three years, and our first one with our son in the shape of a very active two year old. I may need a holiday for when we get back!

What I can say is Asda has been a god send for holiday stuff. Every time I have done my weekly shop, I have been budgeting well and being able to drop a little something for the holiday case in the weekly shop. A pair of flip flops here, some toddler sandals there. One week even managed to find 6 new items in the sale for mini-me and a swimming costume for myself and still not go over budget on the weekly shop! Love it.

Have a wonderful weekend all, and I shall try and bring back some sunshine with added heat.

Just a quick check in so you don't think I've abandoned you. Been reading all your posts. Was feeling a bit off colour this week but been sticking to my regime (mostly!). At the moment I'm using up the mountain of creams and lotions that I have and I'm sure I'm beginning to see a difference in my skin. It's looking much cleaner and brighter and is definitely smoother. I guess it having a regular routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day that makes the difference.
    Be back later.
    Have a good weekend everybody.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Hello all,

Another one here still reading along, can't believe it's the weekend again already!

Welcome to CumbrianCelery love the name btw :)
Think you are very sensible to take things slowly with the nice guy Indie, I knew my beloved for years as a friend before we finally got together, we used to go out for lunch etc and then one day was sitting across from him and it hit me that I was in love with him, scared me silly. Took me a while before I had the courage to tell him, luckily for me he felt the same way and had for ages, the rest is history!

As others have said there is obviously a connection between Wayne and yourself Sugarbaby really hope things work out for you.

Still making the effort every day only.....now it's starting to become part of my daily routine and no longer feels like I'm making an effort iyswim?
Along with my increased cycling I ordered a pedometer and this arrived on Wednesday, I initially set the daily step target at 8k but I seem to be doing that fairly easily so think I will increase this to the recommended 10k and see how I go. Think it helps that I walk the dogs twice a day and even going on the shorter route to accomadate my arthritic, elderly labrador its over 2000 steps at a time. Have also been making the effort to use which ever toilet is in the floor I'm not and run up the stairs, as the saying goes, every little helps :)
Following a recommendation on one of the blogs I follow I have gone back to using the No7 serum, its the restore and renew one so for 60+ which I'm not but happy to report that I can already see the difference in my skin so whatever works. My skin is quite dry so I figured that it would be richer than the one for my age range.
Clothes wise I did order two of Seasalt's short sleeved Breton top, they offer 2 for £40 and have to say they are v good quality, just need some warmer weather now to try then out, we are off to the Cotswolds for a few days next Sunday so keeping fingers crossed.

Happy weekend to you all x

    Hello Ladies,

Thank you to each of you for your good wishes on my relationship with Wayne. Somehow he has become the sort of partner that I wanted to have in my life. :)

    LL
I could be cautious and had intended to be, but I am seeing so much more to Wayne and as life is inevitably short, I do not want to waste time, so I am jumping back in with both feet. We are both being even more caring with each other and I will make more time for him and not be as careless with his feelings than I have been in the past. We are off to a local 3 star hotel this evening. We are both excited and looking forward to having a very, very good time together. ;);)

Wayne had only promised last weekend that he would take me to visit all the members of his family who live in the UK. He started last night with taking me to meet his maternal Aunt and her husband. Both seemed to be very nice people and they certainly were very welcoming towards me. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of his family.

Wayne is very nervous at the thought of meeting my children, my grandchildren and my wider family members, but he knows he has to 'bite the bullet'. I will start with Wayne meeting my children next week.

Our relationship is developing and growing stronger. I had a fantastic time with Wayne last night in the pub, dancing the night away with him.
