No, no snow, but quite cold after the mild weather we've had here through the autumn.
In the daytime I wore my short quilted jacket with jeans but kept warm with thermal leggings underneath and several layers under my jacket starting with a thermal vest. This was much lighter for walking about than my long, wool coat that I kept for evenings.
I coped really easily with cabin luggage only although I did use up most of DH's toiletry allowance as well as my own! :rotfl: Wearing the vests meant I could wear jumpers several times and these days anything seems acceptable in tourist areas in restaurants. In the evenings I wore a cashmere or angora jumper which looked fine despite jeans and boots under the table.
Interested to hear about your ongoing forays into online dating. Although I don't know a lot about them I wonder if dedicated sites are the way to go. Maybe indie can advise which are the best for matches with similar interests, ages etc.
Interesting comments about your DDs Sugarbaby . My DD1 is similar to me in so many ways. She definitely looks like me. It was ironic that only today her neighbour did a double take in the street when I was leaving DD's house. It's strange but although I've brought up DD2 as my step daughter since she was just 8 years old she is very different. Not just the obvious in looks but so many of her ways and attitudes are different. It really calls I question nature vs nurture.0 -
maman pleased you had a good time in Poland. From what you’ve posted, you managed to pull off a very chick weekend, on just hand luggage.very impressive. You must have planted something in my mind because when we did our food shop in Lidl,I picked up some Polish sausage. It was very nice to snack on and the children polished it off (pun intended).
Sugar you have articulated exactly how I feel about DD. It’s amazing watching her grow to be like me, but also different. I guess that OH feels the same way about DS.
I’ve had an amazing weekend. I was very normal, but everything went ‘well’. Firstly, the children had their swimming lessons and not only do they enjoy it, but they are making progress. Then, DS had his tuition and did his homework, voluntarily. He got a certificate from his tutor and had been over the moon all day.
We went out for dinner on Saturday night. It was a last minute decision but the children really wanted to go. It was one of those child friendly places, but all enjoyed it even if the food wasn’t brilliant. I wore a French connection dress, opaques, uggs and a glittery headband. I wasn’t dressy, but was smart casual.
Today, we’ve been preparing DDs bedroom for painting. We needed a break after doing DS room, but then it became more difficult to motivate ourselves. Once we started,I really enjoyed it. I told Mr C that I want the room done by early December, so that the children are settled and we can all enjoy Xmas. It’s a good excuse to clear out the children’s toys. They have quite a few things they no longer play with, but won’t let us get rid off.
My evening has ended on a high as I managed to buy DDs Xmas present. DD is into dolls and I wanted to get her a Luvabella doll, but it’s the must have toy this year, so it’s OOO everywhere. She doesn’t know about the doll, so I wasn’t stressed if I couldn’t get it, but I was stressing about what to get her otherwise. I was browsing online and found it in stock, so we ordered it and I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.0 -
Chanie.....what a fab post. Well done on tracking down the doll for your daughter.....she will be chuffed to bits. And a new bedroom too, just in time for Christmas.
It was glorious here today. I went for a nice walk, took my camera and got some lovely shots of the trees in the park in all their autum finery. The colours have been wonderful this year.
I am really pleased with my walking progress, average a good 30 mins walk each day, no knee brace and quite a brisk pace now too. A couple of months ago it was a slow painful saunter and I really struggled even with my brace. Just shows you, persistence pays off.
Have decided to cancel the eharmony membership tomorrow whilst I’m still inside the 14 day trial period.......honestly today’s “matches” were beyond a joke.......photos without heads - what???? Profiles with one word answers to questions......what is it with men over a certain age, is it arrogance or laziness. And when they can be bothered to do a profile - well let’s just say some of them are such dinosaurs with such old fashioned views and frankly their “wish lists” for the traits they would like in a partner are sometimes downright misogynistic. No thanks!!
And of course A lot of them are looking for submissive nubile beauties in their 20s and 30s. :rotfl: talk about delusional. If that’s what they want then they will need to look on the Thai brides websites. You have to laugh really. Anyway I’m done with internet dating, I’ve got better things to do with my time.
Actually I got chatted up in the supermarket the other day.......maybe I should hang around the posher supermarkets, at least I can check what goes in their trolly.......maybe a good way to check if you are compatible.:rotfl:
Meeting a friend tomorrow for lunch and maybe little light retail therapy. I’ve more or less done most of my Christmas shopping now. Nice and early this year.0 -

floss, I did wonder.....I suppose it’s all automatic and there’s no human intervention.ive no idea how these things work. I know they use algorithms for the matches and that’s about the sum total of my knowledge.
Btw. Maman your wardrobe for Poland sounds brilliant, especially as you only had hand luggage.
Dull and grey here at the moment. Rumour has it there might be snow this weekend.......:rotfl:0 -
Hello ladies,
Sorry that I haven't been on for a few days, have had the dreaded lurgy, cold and cough etc, and have been feeling quite rough. Have finally conceded and intend to spend today laying on the sofa doing nothing but reading and keeping my liquids up (honey & lemon and water :rotfl: ) in the hope that will finally knock it into touch.
Many congratulations to Sugarbaby on the weight loss, what a positive start :j
Your holiday sounds fab Maman and another one here in awe of your packing abilities, great ideas on the thermal vests etc.
What a productive weekend you had Chanie I want to tackle the living room decorating wise before Xmas but seem to be running out of time, I might just settle for freshening up the accent colour wall and see how I feel then.
Re the dating site LL I don't blame you for losing enthusiasm so quickly, how lacking in imagination must these men be if that's the best they can do? Given your success in the supermarket perhaps that the way to go, at least you can see them in the flesh so to speak :rotfl:0 -
Enjoy your rest Lainey, hope it does the trick. DH seems to have picked up that cold too. He's taking it easy but delirium hasn't set in quite yet.;)lessonlearned wrote: »Chanie.....what a fab post. That makes me feel so old. I remember tracking down (all by landline calls in those days) a Paddington Bear for my DD the first time around!:eek:lessonlearned wrote: »Actually I got chatted up in the supermarket the other day.......maybe I should hang around the posher supermarkets, at least I can check what goes in their trolley.......maybe a good way to check if you are compatible.:rotfl:
Beware of men with a trolley full of ready meals as they might just be looking for someone to keep house and cook for them!:D
Not much going on here today other than getting myself back into routine. I have done a bit of fabbing but I'm taking things easy too. Tomorrow we've people coming to put a latex screed on kitchen floor to be followed by new vinyl flooring on Wednesday so kitchen will be out of action for much of tomorrow. Fortunately I'm out tomorrow night so won't need to use it but I've suggested that DH either puts microwave in the dining room to ping a ready meal or buys himself fish and chips!
It's dull and overcast here but fortunately dry.:)0 -
Hello Ladies,
LL, Maman and Lainey thanks for your congratulations on my weight loss. My journey continues.
Maman I am glad that you had such an enjoyable holiday in Poland. You did fantastic with your wardrobe choices for your holiday and it enabled you to travel light, yet you managed to look 'fab' throughout your holiday and keep warm.
Chanie you all had such a lovely family weekend
LL you are making a wise choice with reference to E Harmony. It must have been a delight to find yourself being chatted up in the supermarket.
Lainey I hope you are fully recovered soon.
I spent a lot of this weekend doing washing and drying, then I went to the launderette this morning to wash and dry a single quilt which is so bulky it can not fit in my washing machine or tumble dryer. It is a spare quilt and I wanted it ready for any time my grandson comes to stay overnight.
My grandson came to visit us and take home some household goods on Saturday. He was not feeling well, but he had run out and he knows he is always welcome to come and get things like soap powder, fabric conditioner, shower gel etc for free from my hoard. As I told him, I may not be working, but I have already got all of the items for half price or at a bargain price and laid them down until they are needed. I made him take some Benylin and 2 Beechams Max capsules and after a couple of hours his fever broke and he felt so much better he decided to go home rather than stay the night in my home. I gave him a bottle of Benylin that was unopened and a packet of Beechams Max capsules so that he could get his virus under control at home hopefully. I love spending time with my grandson as he has such a great sense of humour.
Like LL there is not much more I need to do to be ready for Christmas. I need to get the Christmas presents for my sisters wrapped and sent to them by 2nd Class post. Everyone else I will be able to hand over their presents personally.0 -
I too am almost presented-up for Christmas- just 2 candles from Aldi for my bezzies and then it's making whisky marmalade, strawberry & prosecco / raspberry jams, gluten-free biscotti & chocolate-dipped candied orange sticks2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
