Nice gloves, Maman.
I am looking for some red leather ones for DIL and probably a replacement pair for myself. When she saw mine she admired them -I bought her turquoise leather a couple of years ago and she loved them. I lost my red leather ones when I wore them to dads funeral so would like to replace them. I keep looking in TX Maxx and Sainsbury’s but they are not in yet.
So ladies....if you know where anyone has them please let me know. I don’t really want to buy them online.....I am very fussy about leather items, I like really soft leather, So really want to see them and try them in real life.
I bought a nice fake fur scarf today for one the girls for Christmas. Although it’s so nice I want to keep it for myself:rotfl: ...maybe I will get them something else.....
Just been looking at tickets for our annual jaunt to Chatsworth, it’s Dickens this year and looks fab. Hopefully can book tomorrow. Tickets for the weekend visits sell out pretty fast so I’ll need to get organised.
Starting to feel quite Christmassy already......0 -
Ps there’s a programme about slim people on tonight 9pm, why some people appear to stay slim more easily that others.
My dad never out an ounce on, and my youngest son seems to have inherited his genes. My eldest son is stockier and has filled out, not fat but he will have to be careful because I have noticed he can put on weight quite quickly.
Anyway the programme might be interesting.0 -
I bought some cashmere wrist warmers while on holiday on September, I wore them today as an alternative to leather gloves and was surprised how cosy they were. They are made in Shropshire from recycled cashmere sweaters & cardigans:

Floss thanks for the link, I’ve just had a look and I’m eyeing up the wrist warmers and neck warmers.
I just finished watching the programme that Lessons recommended and whilst it as interesting, the principle of eat less, move more remains the same, despite the expert saying otherwise. The two participants didn’t eat loads and automatically ate less if they over indulged. Plus, they were active, even if they weren’t exercising.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I went to the meeting with my Area Manager and the General Manager and after them explaining what wages and holiday pay they felt they were willing to admit they owed me, they told me that they were terminating my employment today as I had been employed for less than 2 years and I was an 'unsuitable person' for the job.
When I asked them both in what way I was unsuitable, they said they were not going to discuss it, they would be sending me a letter. When I pointed out that The Equality Act 2010 classifies me as disabled because I have a type of heart disease and again they said they were not going to discuss anything with me.
I did bring up the issue of having proof that I was not in receipt of any pay for 2 months this year for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support purposes. It was agreed that the Area Manager will send me a letter on Company headed paper outlining that I was not paid for those 2 months as they insisted that the Company does not generate nil balance pay slips.
They asked me for my photo ID swipe card, I gave it to them, took the written breakdown of how they had calculated how much they owed me and then I stood up, and put it in my handbag. Then I put my leather jacket and hat on, said goodbye and left.
I am relieved that I no longer have to keep putting up with daily pain and taking painkillers every day, just to be able to do my job, so I am not upset at the loss of a minimum wage cleaning job.
I will do a claim for Employment and Support Allowance tomorrow. It is a very long process, as the claim form is 63 pages long. It will take time to get the initial decision and an appointment for my medical assessment.
I will have time to recover and stop pushing my body to the limits of it's capabilities now. I look forward to my 1st pain free day.0 -
Sugarbabeam so sorry to hear your news that is a horrible way to treat someone. My ex got terminated at beginning of year under the short term contract. After 2 years you kinda feel your foot is in the door don't you?
Never mind I am sure you will find a much better job that is more suited to your skill set soon xx0 -
Oh SUgarbaby........what a horrible way to treat you when you have done your job with such commitment and dedication. You reacted with such grace and dignity too. Well done you.
TBH you are well out of there. They hardly sound like model employers. I do hope you don’t struggle too hard financially, that you get what is due to you. Good luck with the ESA too. Hopefully you can use the time you are out of work to mend your health and rebuild your strength and stamina. You are a strong, capable, resilient and powerful woman. I’m feel sure you will bounce back.
Had a lovely lunch with my dil yesterday. Life is looking good these days (oh dear hope I’m not tempting fate) :rotfl: I am gradually building a good social life, making some nice new friends, getting stronger and healthier and just generally seeing an upswing in my circumstances.
Wemt to TKMax on Wednesday, bought a couple of Christmas presents and some new skin care products....(miracle serums:rotfl:). I’ll give them a go. I must say the Vit C serum I have been using seems to be improving my skin.....I do have a more healthy glow these days, although of course that could just be because I am finally recovering from all these years of stress and heartache.
I am going to potter round a few charity shops today. And perhaps a trip to Wilkinson’s to see if they have any nice Christmas decorations.
Fab Friday.....not sure what to wear yet, the weather hasn’t t quite made its mind up yet.
Have a lovely day.0 -
Sorry to hear that you have been treated so badly by your employers Sugarbaby but as they say 'every cloud has a silver lining' and you can now devote more time to looking after yourself while your body recovers.
Had a hairdressers appointment before work this morning (I was in the salon at 8am ) and am really pleased with the cut - last time was a disaster as my usual stylist was off sick and another person cut my hair - it was awful
So nice to hear you sounding so positive LL - you deserve all the happiness in the world after what you have been through the past few years
The gloves are lovely Maman - hope you have a lovely time in Poland.
Rubyslippers - I really feel for you as my OH can be a bit on the controlling side - I guess I have learned to live with it over the years and I take opportunities as and when I can to go off and 'do my own thing'. I can't really add any more than LL & Sugarbaby have said - they are very wise words.
Have a good weekend all :j0 -
Hello ladies,
All safely back from Scotland and just catching up in everyone's news, sorry to hear about your job Sugarbaby but am hoping it will prove a silver lining for you in so much will give you time to recover properly and heal.
We had a lovely time in Edinburgh, our apartment was very clean and comfortable with many thoughtful touches, we were in a good position, not too far from Princes Street and surrounded by many restaurants & bars. I was glad to have taken scarf and gloves because, despite staying dry, the wind was cold, especially at the top of the castle :rotfl: was extremely pleased with my new coat. Unfortunately not so my boots, the padded linings helped with the thin soles but I didn't factor in that they would push my feet up somewhat and my toes were pinchedNot enough to stop me walking around but certainly were not comfortable so think that I will let them go to a CS with thanks and look around for a replacement. Can anyone recommend some short, leather brown boots at all?
We collected the dogs from their kennels this morning and they were very pleased to see us, my old lady is now fast asleep on her bed, the kennels are very good with under floor heating etc but I guess, like us, there is no place like home.
Right, time for lunch and then I will head over to the yard to see Lulu, not sure how fab I will look in my jeans and fleece but I will at least be warm.
Love to all and happy holidays to Maman love those gloves btw!0 -
Hello Ladies,
I did not make a claim for ESA, as I have not received the 2 letters or my P45 from my employers.
I am just getting on with my life. I can not make too many plans for the future until I know if I will qualify for ESA or have to claim JSA.
My son is letting me use his laptop as mine is overheating and turning itself off.The internal fan is broken and the Belkin cooling pad I normally use with my laptop has stopped working, hence the overheating. The cheapest option was to buy a new one last night from eBay. It should arrive here by Monday.
Glad to hear that your visit to Edinburgh was such a success for you Lainey. A shame about the boots though.
LL we should not have to struggle too much, even if I am only able to claim JSA, as I am always buying products that we need as a family in bulk when they are half price or less, against crisis times. For example I have 10 boxes of 40 wash Ariel. I have large stocks of lots of household goods stockpiled throughout every available space around the 3 bedroomed maisonette we live in. Some items like the Dove moisturising body lotion we all use, I have more than 60 bottles of it in 2 storage boxes.
I am used to looking after the pennies, not just the pounds, so once I have my P45 and my termination letter, I can report to the Tax Credits that I have been sacked. I will immediately lose my working tax credit which is slightly more than the weekly wage I used to earn. I will just have to wait to see how it all turns out. There is always a gap between receiving any Benefits and the last day that you work, so thank goodness I have some savings that I can utilise. I am hoping to have all the changes ratified before Christmas, so I will know how little we have to live on. The awkward thing is that some Benefits are paid weekly and some are paid fortnightly, so I will have to be very careful with my budgeting.
I am tired today, but I have had a couple of very short naps when I was watching television earlier in the day. I ran a few errands then I had plenty of time to rest and relax.0
