Thank you Sashybo, Bluegreen143, SH, Spendless, MeandO and Dawnybabes for your kind words.
Got through the mad working week but was very much on my knees by Friday night. Unfortunately DS2 and his gf wanted lifts to 2 different places, which I did thinking they were each spending the night at friends but got a call at 10, just as I was dropping off to sleep, asking for lifts back, so not an early night at all.
Yesterday was spent visiting my parents which was good, but another late night, so am not planning to do anything today other than potter around in the garden!
I have 2 weeks off from Job 1 which I’m looking forward to being able to catch up with a couple of local friends.
I now know when my friend’s funeral is, so am planning the logistics of getting to it. She lived quite a way from me so trying to figure out the best way.
MSE wise, money seems to be going out as fast as it comes in. All the direct debits are paid for this month which I am thankful for. I’ve ended up buying a new fork for the garden, as there are a few tools that I know I had and have used in the past, that I can’t seem to find anymore 😞. The fridge seems to have died, discovered when we woke up with part of the house with no electricity last week. The house seems to be wired on 2 circuits and one had tripped. I unplugged the fridge and put the switch up on the electricity board and it stopped tripping and restored power to the house. Need to source a new to me fridge this week 🙄.
The tomato plants are thriving as are the sweet peas. Even have some ammi majus seedlings through, which I have found so tricky to germinate in the past.
On a positive note, youngest DD has been picked to take part in a sports project for the next few weeks. She attends sessions which, happily for me, is close to the beach. Yesterday, before visiting my parents, she went off to her sports session, while DS3 and I went to the beach. It was a sunny day yesterday, so the water was sparkling and such a vibrant blue. I am so thankful that DS3 is thoroughly happy playing in the sand and finding shells and stones. Such simple things but made for a pleasant afternoon. He was fascinated at one point, to find a crab sidling across the sand, barely visible for the layers of sand on it.
Going to dig out the Simnel muffin recipe and make a batch of those for tea.

Hope you manage to get to your friend's funeral.
Irritating about the kids lifts... I find with DD I have to ask lots of questions and sometimes prompt an overnight stay - as otherwise like you she wants a lift just as I've fallen asleep.
Ouch to the fridge failing. I sympathise. My oven broke 2 weeks ago and is not yet fixed. I imagine a fridge is even more vital.
How annoying that garden tools have gone walkabout. That's not on at all. I feel for you there too. Really frustrating. Glad you at least have the beauty of the beach and some nicer weather to lift your spirits...

It sounds to have been an expensive and exhausting few days - though the beach and the garden are a wonderful counterbalance.
Teens needing lifts is one of those parental things... I remember a greetings card with a girl ringing her Dad: 'Please can you give me a lift home, I'm on the moon?' I'm sure all parents of teens will sympathise!
You graciously don't say where you think the gardening implements have gone but I'm sure you are thinking. Maximum inconvenience comes into it, but on the plus side having new things will be more years of use, personal to you and helping you keep your garden and allotment and feed the family. I've found garden tools are often sold at car boot sales - good strong old fashioned ones, so this may be worth a look. As for fridges, I think one of your children has Facebo0k so it may be worth a look on Facebo0k Market place. I got a fridge there for £25. Good working order but a scratch on the cabinet.
I had to look up ammi majus - so pretty!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I’m glad you find some simple pleasures in the garden and the beach walks after the less positive things. I remember as a teen, my mum didn’t have a car so would come out late at night to pick me up on foot and walk back home with me from my nights out. I used to tell her if I was with a lad she was to pretend she didn’t know me 😬

Thank you SH, Cherryfudge & SA ( sorry must have cross posted).
Thats a good idea Cherryfudge, DD1’s bf is a FB marketplace whizz so will enlist his help to search. I hadn’t thought about garden tools at car boots. I will have a look out locally. Thank you for the ideas.

Make sure you keep the replacement garden tools locked away .
if DS is still at his Dads ,shouldn’t he be doing the running around?3 -
Hi- I went to a local auction a few days ago and noticed that good quality garden tools were going for a low price so that might be worth a look. Where are the originals tho` ??2
