Thank you Janb5, Mumoffourkids, DAL and SH. It’s a relief to know I’m not the only one who has found that food spending has increased.
2 day’s completed, back at work. It’s not been too bad. We are cleaning surfaces down regularly, hand washing all the time and doing our utmost to help the children understand social distancing.
Direct debits came out over the last 2 days. A little more has been paid .paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Well done with all your juggling. At least the kids have learned a little about social distancing at home too. Hopefully that will help.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you SH. Now done a full week (for me) . It looks like we’ll have more children back soon. I think some parents were waiting to see how the first group of children got on before deciding whether to send their children.
Although technically not working yesterday I spent most of the day preparing for next week and trying to catch up with a course I’m supposed to be doing. Hoping that half a day will be enough to finish work tasks for this week. My children are starting to get fed up with me being on a computer so much!
I confess that I got very frustrated with DS1 yesterday. I paid the council tax for this month, still having to pay £56 a month more than I was and DS1 still not contributing a penny. I have explained it to him on numerous occasions and even last month with me having to scrape every penny together for vet fees made no difference. When he wanted to know what was for tea, I turned it round and asked him what he was doing for tea. After the initial shock and a good few minutes of silence he came out of his room, drove to Mr T’s and bought enough pizzas for us to eat for tea. I was stunned but thankful that he had at last done something.

Good for you putting your foot down with DS1. I’m glad he decided to do something to help you. Maybe this might make him realise that he does need to contribute financially to the house.6

I have been reading your diary for a while as we are another 'large' family. You seem to make it look so easy. You are doing amazing.
I just wanted to say we had the same thing with DD1, We paid thousands for her driving lessons and car and first insurance but as soon as she left college she refused to contribute. I stopped making her meals and washing her clothes. Told her if I wanted a cleaner I had to pay for one. After running out of clothes she finally gave in and now pays it without fail (even this month when she has been living with he boyfriend for the last 10 weeks during lockdown).
I did feel really cruel but we were really struggling without her contribution xLBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554
Mortgage@1 June 18 - £76350
Total debt @june 18 £102311
Debt Jan 25 £8282

Hi...you`re aren`t `cruel` at all but it takes a while for them to realze how expensive it is to run a house!6
