Trying to choose a Card to build credit rating.
I've read MSE advice, but still have a few questions:
- Is there benefit in sticking with my current bank (Natwest) or using a different bank?
- Natwest Reward credit card cannot be used as a credit builder according to Which? what makes a credit card unsuitable?
- As I plan to repay credit each month, does using a high or low APR card build better credit score?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Dan

Either try your own bank or one of the sub prime cards.
Any card will help build a credit history if you use it correctly.
The APR is irrelevant as you will clear in full each month.
And you don't have a credit score. Just a credit history.0 -
The benefit of sticking with your own bank is normally advised as they will have an existing relationship with you, an inside view of your spending habits so to speak.
If they don't accept you, do as suggested and opt for a sub-prime card.
Any credit card will demonstrate you can manage credit responsibly, if used correctly.
If you are applying for the first time, you may not get accepted for a card that offers rewards.
APR is irrelevant if you plan to pay off in full. The score makes no difference so don't focus on it.

Thanks for the replies,
I get the impression that as long as I get accepted I can't go far wrong.
Any idea why this link says "no" to building credit?
moneycompare.which.co.uk/credit-cards/44870-natwest-reward-credit-card
I can't make it a hyperlink as a new user.0 -
It's suggesting that you won't get it if you don't have a decent credit history.
Rewards cards are generally for those with a good track record of account management.0 -

It means that someone who needs to rebuild their credit history would probably not get accepted for this card.
This is where a sub prime card would be recommended as it's criteria to be accepted is less strict.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
