New joiner here (only a month late) - my disaster zone is my study. Have moved EVERYTHING out, it has been decorated and now stuff is only coming back in if really needed.
Shredder is complaining and books to go are being stacked on the landing.
Have drifted back the internet ... back to the sortng0 -

Slightly laughing at myself for saying I'm onto declutter the "good stuff" now as there's a fair bit of old tut in that listShifting my energy for 20200 -
Oh, I have had such a productive day.I am sooooooooooo pleased with what got done today :j:j:j.
As mentioned yesterday, today I was concentrating on the "little messes"-a misleading term ,but the best I can come up with.I told myself I was going to declutter 20 items from each room.I really thought I would be able to do 20 items in each room of the house, then go around and do another 20 items from each room before picking up from school at 3pm :rotfl::rotfl:.
Some things I actually decluttered,so they are countable.Stuff that I have set aside to the loft (),for selling at a later date,I am not counting.
I started in the kitchen:
From one corner of my kitchen,I removed:
-slow cooker,never used,still in original box/packaging,etc-to loft
-211:about 60 tester pots of paint.I have had them listed for sale for ages, had a couple of enquiries, but no buyer.Put in boot of car for tip,but might list on Freecycle, see if it goes that way
-box of son's Christmas presents,to his room
-Christmas stocking to loft (usual storage)
-212-214:three chopping boards,to be returned for refund-boot of car
-215:old dining room chair to OH's man-cave
-216:another old dining room chair moved to our bedroom to use as bedside table
217-219:boxed up Christmas and birthday presents for 2 youngest children.SOme of those presents have been sitting around in the kitchen since November!
Decluttering just that area was enough to ensure I could make the remaining 4 bicycles that are currently living in the kitchen look tidier
In the opposite corner of kitchen there is a workspace, which is where everything is dumped.Decluttered to within an inch of its life!:
220:about 60 paint sample swatches, put out for recycling
221-222:2 slabs of tablets, will take to pharmacy for disposal. Now in my car
223: £5 ,to my sealed tin
224:bag of loose change (about £3),to sealed tin.Who said decluttering doesn't pay?:rotfl:
225-226:egg cartons,to be returned to neighbour
Also a couple of bits for charity, which I will count when it leaves the house
Wiped down all sides, dusted skirting boards, vacuumed
So that was just over 2.5 hours spent.
Then I moved onto 2 youngest daughters' bedroom:
-3 suitcases returned to loft, where they live.Had taken them down a couple of weeks ago to make room to work in loft
227:broken skipping rope, never seen it used before: bin
228:unidentifiable Gelarti toy piece-bin
229:toy hair braider, never seen it used, bin
Vacuumed their room, then upstairs hallway and stairs
1.25 hours spent doing that
Spent 15 minutes tidying at the bottom of stairs, where everything had been dumped as I worked_stuff to the car, stuff out for recycling, etc. Then I vacuumed here.
Had lunch,collected kids from school.
In the evening, spent about half an hour sorting son's room.Bless,he has the tiny box room, and it doesn't take much to look untidy. Some of OH's stuff is, in a large tower, still in there.Must ask him to sort that (seems to be mostly empty boxes for statues he collects/used to collect). And the built-in wardrobe in there is crammed with stuff I want to sell.
At the moment I won't count anything from his room-some I have set aside for charity, some to sell.He also sorted out his shoes and set aside a bag for me to decide whether to donate or bin.All these things I will list when they go.I did manage to clear a shelf on his rack of shelves, making room for his box of Christmas presents from the kitchen.
In between this,I have washed and hung a load of washing, and done 2 loads in the dishwasher
The house really does look so much better.I honestly don't think the kitchen has looked so good since we moved back in in May.Bearing in mind that every Sunday I stay home and blitz the house,I still don't think the kitchen has ever looked as good as it does tonight :j.
EDIT: forgot to mention:

228. -234. CDs
235 - 239. DVDs
240. -241. Books
242.-244. Mugs
I'm hoping to clear the rest of the CDs and DVDs later. I got rid of most of them a couple of years back, but I think most of the remaining ones will go to the CS or music magpie, I never watch them and the only time we listen to CDs is in the car and that's just kiddy ones!
Finally had some interest in one of the baby bouncers we were selling but then she messaged back later saying she had changed her mind
Might try Shpock for selling them instead. I'm surprised how difficult the baby stuff has been to sell, especially as it's only a couple of years old and in good condition. I buy lots of 2nd hand stuff for my two - although someone I know directed a thinly veiled insult at me recently regarding letting kids play with 2nd hand toys, so maybe lots of people feel like her and I'm in the minority? Who knows.0 -
I had a complimentary facial at the Liz Earle counter in boots yesterday
Now up until yesterday morning, I used to use Simple skincare products, but I have literally been converted!
It was a lovely 45 minutes spent by the lovely assistant analysing my skin(I'm combination/oily) and she used the all-famous Cleanse+polish then she used the toner that they sell and the moisturiser and she gave my nose and inner cheek area a scrub with this scrub that they sell, she also used a mask and put some of this eye cream on which was really nice
She even used some Liz Earle makeup and when I looked in the mirror I almost didn't recognise myself!
But now that I have been converted, when I got home, all of my sealed Simple stuff went into the charity shop bag(the one with the plate sets in - yes it's still here! :rotfl: ) and the facial wash which is part used went in the bin, leaving me with my part used toner and moisturiser. This is until I can get my hands on the LE products when I get paid in 2 weeks
I also tried to replicate the makeup look she did on me but I used a Rimmel BB cream then a too faced concealer sample tube that I have and within seconds I noticed that while the concealer blended right in and covered everything nicely the BB cream had oxidised so badly that it went in the bin so I wiped it all off(using my last face wipe so that and packaging went in the bin) and I'm going bare faced today. I also found a sample tube of MAC foundation that's way too dark for me so that's gone in the bin too.0 -

Watched a documentary about minimalists.
Felt jealous.
Back on the de-cluttering case! Just prepared about 50 CD's, some books and some DVD's for charity shop. Kept back a few 'worth a lot' CDs for flea bay, will list them on sunday.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
Morning All.
Busy week at work and as usual home has suffered for it. I would like to get a few decluttering jobs done over the weekend really, but I have a fair amount of general cleaning that needs to be done as a priority. I'm going to commit to pulling rest of stuff out of DD's wardrobe, cleaning inside and out (and behind if I can shift it) and only putting stuff back that is needed. The shelf inside is already empty as I took endless packets of photos out to sort. These are still on my bedroom floor! Keep telling myself it always looks worse before it gets better.
Right, shower and breakfast and best just get on with it all. No internet browsing now until this evening at the earliest, I get distracted.
Keep going everyone. Guineapigsqueaks x

I have a quick question,if anyone can help.
About 2 weeks ago I joined a facebook page called "declutter UK".I was really enjoying it,though I had never posted.
The other day I did respond to a thread talking about a challenge they were running. When I went to check t he site a few hours later,it had disappeared .
Now,for a while I thought I might have been blocked, though wasn't sure why (or maybe accidentally).I literally had written one post sayiny "oooh,I am interested in joining this challenge...blah blah....."
Is anyone else able to find the group?Googling a bit,I think, even if a person is blocked by a group, you should still be able to find/read posts on it.At the moment,I can't even find any record of it in my notifications, ever over the last 2 weeks!
The page was called "declutter UK",if anyone is able to find it.It had about 12,000 members,so funny it would suddenly fold like that.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
