Also got a bag of recycling for DS' school project of junk modelling ready for him to take tomorrow!

Feeling much more positive the last day or 2,thank you all.

    Loft:
131:Yesterday I forgot to mention that ,digging toward the back of the loft,I found a memory box of my 8yo,which included her first pair of shoes (which we hadn't got around to buying until she was over 2 :eek:).I bought them down and put them in my display cabinet with the first pair belonging to two of my other kids.(These have all been found and displayed thanks to the motivation of this thread).Just got one more pair to find, and my collection will be complete.

Haven't done any real decluttering today, but I have been doing alot of tidying, putting away laundry, clearing surfaces, etc,in preparation for tomorrow, when I have a full weekday at home,by myself, without OH and kids, for the first time in absolutely months-probably the first time since moving back into our house in May last year.I have a plan (sort of....) for tomorrow.

I have a to do list (which keeps growing :o),but one of the things I am looking forward to,is going from room to room, and remove 20 items from each room(random number plucked out of the air). Some bits will just be tidying /putting away, some rooms,eg bathrooms, will not have 20 items to remove, some rooms it will be putting birthday rubbish out for recycling, etc, but I also hope there will be some real decluttering as well.
Usually I work room-by-room,but I just thought, since the house is basically tidy, and it is an unexpected day off,so anything I get done is a bonus,I would try something different.Sometimes I do wish I had time to just concentrate on "little messes",instead of tackling whole rooms.

    Hi everyone ,

We are having a new fireplace fitted tomorrow so I've sorted the living room this evening. Got rid of lots of bits and bobs, mainly magazines and cables along with a lot of other paperwork. Hardly any clutter in there now which feels good!
  • Hi All - I've unexpectedly got a clear day as I'd planned to visit a friend but she cancelled due to illness . Weather is horrible and its given me time to reflect.

Thing is - my house is really pretty tidy and fairly organised now - words I never thought I'd say  I'm really enjoying the novelty of this and I'm determined to maintain it! I've been decluttering for a few years & started to really get down to business last June when I read " The More of Less" - it really motivated me as it linked the decluttering to uncovering and making room for purpose in life - that really resonates with me. I joined this thread shortly after - thanks for telling me about it GemGem.

I feel like I'm entering into a new phase. I've re-read the "More of Less" to motivate me. There's still stuff I can let go of - this is all "good stuff" so psychologically its a little harder for me to part with but I'm determined to do it... I've started to donate to a Children's Hospice Charity Shop which makes it easier (10 jewellery items decluttered already this morning - will list later). Also one of the things I need to tackle is home maintenance - I put things off to a ridiculous extent (boiler has been on the blink for years so I'm going to focus on these. There are also numerous areas of "mental clutter" that I'd like to focus on ie consolidating my 3 tiny pensions so that they become one pathetically small pension instead :rotfl:

So I'm posting this to mark the beginning of this new phase and as a statement of intent - I'm "going in there" - I'll let you know what I find. :)
