I am a pretty die hard MSE follower - BUT I wanted to try and get a little more structured in my targets this new year so I thought I would set myself the challenge of doing at least ONE MSE thing per week next year. Ideally a new one I haven't done before.

Some weeks no doubt it will be a "repeat" like "shopping around for car insurance", but there are so many possibilities and suggestions in all the MSE articles that I figure doing 52 MSE things should be a doddle? :money:

Anyone want to join in? :D

I'm kicking off my 2017 with going down a brand - in my case it's going to be hairdresser. My guilty pleasure is going to Toni and Guy (it's a luxury, it's rare but we CAN afford it, however the cost is bugging me like mad!!!) - so I'm going to try and use a local hairdresser and then work out the savings :)

Anyone else up for "going down a brand"? :)

Great idea for a challenge. Maybe we should start a list of possible actions to take.
In week 1 I will probably do a clothes plan for the rest of Winter and Spring (like a meal plan I want to plan my sewing and clothes shopping in advance for each season and then not buy off list).

  • This is a great idea. I'm always trying to do too many new things at once. Maybe one thing a week will be manageable!

I've just cracked open a tin that I'd been trying to put in money each day (1p for Jan 1st up to £3.65 for Dec 31st) I lost track half way through the year but still managed to save about £315. OH was pretty impressed so we're making it a competition next year. We'll have a jar each and at the end of the week any cash we have left in our wallet/purse (unless earmarked for something specific) will go in our jar. At the end of the year we'll tot up and use the money towards something special.

  • I am loving this idea. Can I join please, I'll post 1 thing per week that I'm going to do if thats okay. If I think of a big list now, I'll just get overwhelmed.
I've started today by switching my gas and electric from a standard tariff saving £80.00 per year and went through quidco getting £55.00 cashback :j

I'm also going to sort myself out and remember to take my bags to the supermarket, I've worked it out and think that can save me at least £20.00 a year. Any tiips on how to do this because I really can't:rotfl::rotfl:

The best way I've found is to put the bags back in the car as soon as they are unloaded. Plus always keep a fold up bag in your handbag, just in case you do any unplanned shopping. :D

This is a brilliant idea so will subscribe and think of a few ideas to start off the new year
