Ordered cooker online but want to return after use

  • But anyhow, the cooker was installed by a certified gas engineer. I have checked the cooker and it is level. The issue I have (which didn't seem so much of a problem before until it kept happening every time I put a pan on the hob) is that they sometimes tilt because the pan supports do not seem to be even. This is something I would have only found out after using.
Since it's already installed, someone from the retailer will have to come to your home and inspect the cooker.

Nobody here can judge whether it will be deemed a fault, since we can't see it.

What I can't understand is how you can describe it as " a massive danger obviously" and then say that you are unsure whether it will accepted as a fault?

Perhaps respond to others who have requested that you post the make and model of the cooker?

Presumably anyone else who bought one of these cookers would have identical pan supports, are there any on line reviews highlighting the same issue?

The last car I purchased has a problem with a faulty brake shoe yet as far as I was able to ascertain, this was a one off occurrence and appears to be a manufacturing defect that was missed during whatever inspections it had.

Just because the OP may have a faulty pan support doesn't mean that all cookers of the same model will automatically have the same fault.

Pria, if you have a spirit level, what you really need to do it place it on the pan support to make sure that this is level,
If the cooker itself is level and the support is not, a couple of photographs sent to the retailer showing these measurements may well do away with the need for them to come out to inspect.
  • if the pan supports are out of shape, then surely the solution is to ask for replacement supports, not change out the entire oven.

    Not really.
The OP has only stated that the cooker itself is level:

It all depends on where the measurement was taken from and it's possible that the cooker body is perfectly level but there is a defect with the pan supports hence the reason for suggesting that this was checked.
  • It must be the pans not the hob

check the support by laying a spirit level across the it.

So to recap you have stove that you believe to be faulty with possibly damaged/poor pan supports.

You carry on using it for a month and without speaking to the seller about the problem and what remedies would be possible you come on here asking about returning it.

Sounds like buyers remorse to me.

IME this is a major flaw of gas cookers. Can be because the pan used is too small for the support, it isn't heavy enough, or that the bottom surface of the pan is smooth, and against a smooth surface it will slip.

Can't see you getting anywhere as this isn't a fault as such with the cooker.
