  • Sounds like a bit of a gamble to me! If MSE does go ahead with another collective I hope there might be notification in this thread also just in case I / we miss it in the weekly emails.

  • Am in the Collective Fix that ends 28th Feb as well.......waiting game then to see if MSE come up with another deal ??
    If no deal by beginning of Feb or so we will all have to find the best deal independently then :(

    "Independently"? There must be enough folk in the same boat to do a "collective"!! :money:

  • There appears to now be a number of collective fixes "in the offing" even if not actually happening yet. I have just registered with the Energy Helpline one on T 0800 074 0745 which would have the advantage that the timing would dovetail with the expiry of the MSE BG Collective Fix 2017 at the end of Feb once the "auction" had taken place later this month.

    The last EHL Collective I think was with EDF. It would have cost me a lot more than I am paying now. I switched early December.

  • The "Big Switch" (just closed) didn't seem to offer me any advantage compared with the MSE / ESC Dual Fuel selections. Nor did "going single" rather than dual fuel. The Energy Helpline is due to publish its collective fix auction results on 14 Feb. If they come up with a good deal, the short wait should be worth it, if not then I might switch to Avro (which seems now to have vanished from the ESC listings - why?). I'm guessing that a MSE collective fix is just not going to happen.

  • My fixed deal is coming to an end also next month and I have signed up to 2 collective switches that are due for the same date (so thinking they are the same). One is with NHS discounts scheme and the other with Tariff Team at Free Postcode Lottery. However they both have dates of 14th Feb as when the deals will be offered to them, so I think the same energy scheme is with both. I wondered why MSE wasn't offering this as well if other companies can?

    @Telegraph Sam
    If you live in England, then the MSE Weekly newsletter stated that there will be no MSE Collective this time round. Still a possible for Scotland or NI but nothing is certain.

    @PrettyFlower90
    MSE will only offer one if it is better value for an average consumer than anything else on the market. That is why. A collective scheme I was signed to othered a scheme which was beaten by 8 suppliers back in November and since then prices have increased all around. No supplier with the capacity to handle 100,000 new subscribers wishes to pay MSE £6m in a market when prices are going up.
  • Time - like 14th Feb - will show .. Normally one would expect there to be good and not so good deals in any market regardless of whether prices are moving upwards or downwards. If it was such a sellers' market, how to explain the still widespread offers of cashbacks for switching? It has got to be in someone's interest to pay for these.

    Whilst comparing what is currently on offer on MSE - ESC's pages I found it difficult to understand the ranking within each of the tabs, even allowing for (I am guessing) both price and customer feedback score being taken into account. Some of the more interesting deals seemed to be hidden under the "more offers" link (I may have misquoted this) at the bottom of the page.:question

    You are making this more complicated than it needs to be. All offers are shown on the MSE CEC website unless the supplier has decided not to be listed. They tend to do this when they cannot mange the influx of customers. What additional information are you looking for?
