    Morning :hello:

Sorry to hear about silly family FatVonD :( Hope you can at least make good use of the extra food you have!

Ooh, a country walk sounds lovely :j Sun's shining here and I was considering the same thing, maybe with a flask of hot chocolate :j

Wow determined new ms - 2 weeks off for 3 days leave? Go for it! :j

Hmm - leftovers... we don't actually have any from Christmas dinner :o :rotfl: But that's because there's only two of us, and we didn't really overcook, and just munched on what was left throughout the rest of the day. Ooh, but I do have some leftover pasta that I took to a buffet yesterday in a bid to be vaguely healthy, except everyone was too busy eating deep fried frozen things so most of it came home :rotfl:

    So today's small things...

    * just been playing about with sw@gbucks again - met my daily goal so up to 227 points now - if I carry this on I might even be in for making about £10 a month from it :money: but it remains to be seen if I *will* carry it on once I go back to work...

    * making a vat of yellow split pea soup - hoping some of it will make it into the freezer :o Ingredients so far are literally split peas, water, and a stock cube :o :money:

    * will do free yoga video in a minute

    * might get wrapped up and go for a nice bracing walk that will NOT end in a cafe :o :rotfl: :D

    * just about to go through YNAB and make sure I put in all my Christmas eve spending :o

    * need to investigate a new hoover :( Ours just will NOT pick up anything any more, and we've done everything we can. That's two cheapo ones we've ruined in the last year, hoovering up DIY stuff :( Think we may have to go for something more expensive this time, but I don't want to ruin that too...

    * might pop to see a friend later, will take round some of the biscuits we were bought for Christmas :j

Hope you all have a good day :)
  • Cheery Daff if you have space could you have 2 hoovers. We have our decent one that's kept inside that we use all the time and then my sister was chucking her old one out which we keep in the garage and use to hoover up after DIY projects. It's really noisy and I couldn't bear using it all the time but at least if it gets ruined nothing lost. Maybe look on FB, charity shops or 2nd hand furniture shops. Just a thought.
  • Afternoon all. :hello:
I'm still wiped out with this cold but definitely over the worst of it. Still can't smell or taste anything which isn't ideal, but I feel better than I did yesterday.
I've been busy this morning - sorted out budgets for the month ahead and went to Mr S for a bit of shopping. I bought myself some new work trousers in the sale which I am pretty desperate for. Plus I got a top up shop - now the house is full of reduced Christmas food... Spent a bit more than I would have liked but shouldn't need to food shop any time soon.
I'm doing our 'Christmas Dinner' today so I'm cooking loads of stuff and there will be leftovers to freeze and for the week ahead. And loads and loads of cheese... :D
I've done the daily housework jobs and now plan to spend the rest of the afternoon cooking and crocheting.
    Have a good day everyone!
  • mwahahahahaha! I am the evil manipulator! Last night oh toted going for a pub lunch and I made the appropriate "mmmm" noises (thinking you must be joking the cupboards are bursting with food! We're getting ready for the walk and I casually said "what do you want in your sandwich?" and his reply, without missing a beat, was. "Turkey, we've got loads of that" :rotfl:

madam is trying a few new sayings out at the moment. Currently repeatedly saying to oh "Go for it!" so funny when he's actually trying to get her ready "Go for it!" :rotfl:

  • FVD sorry about your family problems. So difficult isnt it because its sad to lose touch with family - my Dad did that with his sister years ago - but then again life is too short to put up with that kind of behaviour.

We are sofa dwelling. Me, the dog, my new book and a fleecy blanket on one sofa. DH watching telly on the other sofa. We did talk about going for a drive to the coast but one way or another we would have spent money we dont really have so decided against it. We will take the dog for a walk later and in the meantime I am quite happy here.

I got a bit of money for Christmas so I am shopping about online for hair straighteners, mine died a long time ago and I didnt replace them. Its very hard to choose. I would like the branded ones that are £120 but they are out of my budget!

Oh and I am waiting to hear if the ebay seller will let us return one of DS's presents which dont fit. Will just have to try and resell them if not.

    Afternoon all!

It's been lovely to hear about everyone's days. FatVonD - hugs to you x

Finally home! We didn't go to the in laws on Christmas eve. FIL decided that he could cope which was a good job as I just wanted to rest my head after the A&E jaunt. I was still a bit groggy on Christmas morning, but perked up in the car on the way to the in laws.

The pressies that we got the kids seemed to go down really well which surprised me a bit (really hard ages to buy for! 12 and 14), but I'm glad. Nephew had me in stitches because he walked into the house and announced

"Everyone must think that I stink because all I got is bodyspray this year!" :rotfl:

Good job that we got him a wallet :D

The other highlight was playing Trivial Pursuit. Boys v girls. The boys seemed to be racing ahead and were getting very easy questions (sample: how many legs are there on a tripod?!), whereas we were getting questions like "In 1956, what country held the equestrian events but did not send a team to the Olympic games in Melbourne?" (I still don't understand the question).
After much annoyance on my part, I finally checked the box, only to discover that it was family edition and we were asking the boys the child questions and we were getting the adult questions :rotfl:

FIL and MIL were shattered by 9.30 and went to bed. Gave MIL a bit of a talking to about maybe not trying to do as much next year. She knows I'm right, but just can't let it go yet. But they are so shattered that they can't enjoy it.

Anyway, back home now to a delightfully cool house (probably 27 degrees at the inlaws. I kid you not). Not a big list but here goes:
    • B/L/D from stores. Unlikely to go out as both shattered (got very little sleep dt the heat) - done
    • Spent my voucher on three new tops (very much needed!) - done
    • Water chilli plants - done
    • Sort some more veg that's knocking about - sliced and frozen the leeks, parsnips are currently becoming soup
    • Wash on - done
    • Sorted some stuff to go to the cs - done
    • Snoozy cuddles on the sofa
    • Possibly start crocheting a scarf to go with my hat and gloves but depends how tired I am.
    Have a good one all

    * Shared bath water & continue using up various open lotions and potions :)Also done nails, handcream, cuticle oil and foot cream as part of my useup
    * Log on to library online and renew books the little ones haven't finished yet :)
    * Get out for some fresh air & exercise as we've not been out since Friday :(
    * Watch more films from stash inc the new (to us) dvd we got my eldest for xmas :)And he loved it :)
    * All meals from stores, we have plenty in Ys bread for toast with poached eggs for breakfast, just made Christmas day soup (ds didn't eat any of his xmas dinner as he was unwell but has more of an appetite today and normal temp thankfully so at least none of it went to waste :) Tea was another buffet with cheeses, pate, crackers and salad bits
    * Book dh & my eldest an appointment for the opticians :)booked and can pick up ds1's toy he wants with his money at the same time
    * Minimum heating on as plenty of blankets & candles :)
    * May do some baking if ds1 still wants to, he asked at 7pm so I said it was too late but to ask again today :) fairy cakes made and ds2 made Foxgloves cheats peppermint creams using ys ready made icing with a drop or two of peppermint essence and dipped in some melted chocolate.
    * Check banking/update spreadsheet :)
    * Check luckyphone/numberplate/fpl :)
    * Dejunk email accounts and unsubscribe from anything I can :)

That's a start of a list at least, not feeling too tired at the minute but ought to get off the laptop I guess!

After such a late night we didn't come downstairs until 9am which was nice and relaxed. I'm still sat here in my pj's as my dad popped in to drop a couple of bits in on his way home from the gym and stayed drinking coffee & chatting for hours! it was nice though :)
The item my youngest ordered using his xmas/pocket money from the rain forest people has just arrived so we are having a bit of peace whilst they put that all together. We must get out tomorrow though or I'll go stir crazy! My eldest has decided what he wants to spend his money on but its cheapest in Smyths toystore so have said we'll get up and straight out tomorrow and go there for him. At least it means today's going to be another nsd.
I have enough food to make a little buffet tonight for us but then from tomorrow I will have to be back to cooking.
I've brought one of the decorations boxes in from the garage already and put it in the spare bedroom, I think I'm going to take the little bits of tinsel, stockings, Santa stop signs etc down a bit at a time over the next day or so and just be left with the tree. I love Christmas but also look forward to the New Year and the feelings of starting with a clean slate.

Anyway I've waffled a lot today! Better get off and drink my cuppa before it goes cold and I have to reheat it which wouldn't be very mse ;)

Hello everyone! I hope your all well! I've been away for the last few weeks since my little one was born and I've been suffering from post natal depression also, however I'm feeling a lot better, not 100% but a lot better! Things have been tough, learning about my little boy, he also has terrible colic and can scream for hours at a time which breaks my heart! This has meant trips to the doctors and different medicines for him, hopefully *touch wood* things are looking brighter and I'm back here to get back to my money saving ways!

So today I've been with my hubby to look around the shops, I didn't buy anything, yay! Hubby treated my little boy to a danger mouse sleepsuit, vest and bib set in the Mothercare sale, just because he's a big kid!

    My list for today:
    - Check bank accounts - Done
    - Complete a few surveys in between looking after little one!
    - Catch up on some TV - Martin Lewis money show!

Hope everyone is having a great bank holiday day! x

Katyann sorry you had a bumpy start with your little one but I'm glad to hear that you're on the up :)
