Left arm, proper broke, cast up to shoulder.
I cant find any guidance saying what i can and cant do. Current car is a manual, could buy a banger automatic (C1, Saxo, KA, Clio) and fit a steering knob.
Doubt work will go with sick leave for the next 6-8 weeks,

A broken arm isn't a disability. This is the relevant page
https://www.gov.uk/broken-limbs-drivingYou must tell DVLA if you’ll be unable to drive for more than 3 months because of a broken limb.
OP, I drove with a broken arm earlier this year, it was fine with my car insurance as long as it was fine with my consultant. However, it was my right arms and my car is an auto. I honestly don't think I could have driven a manual with a broken left arm.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Well you should still inform DVLA as you have a medical condition that is affecting your ability to drive safely. Either that or don't drive or get a suitable vehicle as originally suggested by OP.
Bit of guidance from the NHS
