  • Wiggle is currently at nursery so I’m just trying to get a few jobs done this morning. I’m having one of those mornings where I feel like I’ve got loads to do! We’ve still got lots of boxes that haven’t been unpacked, we still need to buy lots of things for the house, need bits for the baby and got bits of general life admin that needs doing. And all I want to do is sit on the sofa and eat cake! So, it could go either way this morning….. :p

murie thanks for the advice, this is what I needed being a gardening novice! I like the idea of the planters being on wheels so you can get them out of harm’s way!

GTQ sorry to hear about your relative, even when you’re prepared it’s always bound to be a shock when it happens. Sending hugs. I can totally see Wiggle being the same when this baby comes along!

freespirit it’s the best kind of afternoon tea when you don’t leave anything! Good job with the garden.

kerri glad to hear the tonsillitis is going, I hop the cold doesn’t hang around long! My friend was talking about the Beauty and the Beast afternoon tea but I haven’t seen it.

mrsinvisible yes I have done my own afternoon tea before and I was actually thinking of doing it for when my friends came but decided against it as I was running out of time – I wish I had now! Sometimes it is nice to do these things ourselves as we know what we’re getting and as you say, much cheaper too!

vulpix got to love a bargain tree decoration even in April!

GTQ- Im sorry for your loss, even when it is expected it is still a shock. I agree though that its probably for the best if quality of life is non existent.

PrincessKitty- I love afternoon tea, DD and I scour the web for places to visit and I do agree that some are hit and miss. I would love to go to afternoon tea at The Ritz too, its on my bucket list.

Kerri- glad to hear you are over the tonsillitis, hopefully the cold wont last too long.

Vulpix - good news that the turmeric is starting to take effect. Its a shame the fundraiser didn't do so well but at least you were out in the lovely weather and got a bargain to boot!

Free- you will get the benefit of all your efforts when Thumper is playing outside in the summer.

Peppa- Im like that, I read along but as I don't have much to say (whats that you say- "Murie never have anything to say? Cant be!"), then I don't post. How are the 'move' plans coming along?

Thanks for all the suggestions about the footstool, I still cant decide what to do so will have to live with it for a while, hopefully the longer I leave it the glare from the day glow white will fade a little!

DD and I are off to the theatre tonight as I have free tickets for a performance of a new play so hopefully that will be a nice night out. DH is our chauffeur for the evening, but as he has a dose of 'man flu' we may have to rely on Uber instead!

Sorry been lazy again, reading but not posting so will make up for it now.

PRINCESSKITTY that's annoying being asked to pay extra for more sandwiches but as you say it's a bit of a lottery when booking afternoon tea. It's one of my favourite things too, especially if you can do it al fresco in early spring (before the wasps are out and about). If you find a really good local one do let me know.

VULPIX I think I must have missed the turmeric discussion, would it help DH's arthritis in his knees do you think? What do you do with it? Well done on your bargain reindeer - I bought two little sheep in John Lewis yesterday, they weren't Bargains (obviously lol) but I loved their little faces and couldn't leave them behind. DH just rolled his eyes when I got home and showed him. :D

GTQ sorry to hear about your relative, it's very sad but as you say sometimes it's a release from what life would have ended up being. Still very painful for those left behind though.

MRSI I like your style with the dusting too lol. We get so little fabulous weather that it just can't be wasted with cleaning, it'll all still be there when it's raining.

MURIE I think if it was me I'd spray the legs of the stool with the Plasticote type spray paint - Wilkies do their own version at half the price and it's fine. I think you can get Matt as well as gloss so they won't look like plastic. Mind you it does depend on the look you want to achieve, have you thought about decoupage for them? The moving plans are going well. Our buyer's are keen to be in by early May which is fine with us so need to chivvy up the people we're buying from. They're on hols at the mo (know I shouldn't begrudge them that, especially as they're lovely people, but I sort of do) so I'll give them a call when they get back. I can't wait to move now I know it's actually happening.

Had a lovely day yesterday, met with the vicar in the morning for a planning session for the vow renewal then spent the afternoon with DGD and my sis looking for dresses. Found a lovely one in John Lewis for DGD (bridesmaids dress because although she isn't actually one I want her to feel special) and we played 'Say Yes to the Dress' (my favourite programme at the mo even though I normally hate reality tv). No luck finding anything for me, very little about but I did order a couple of things to try late last night from House of Fraser. In the cold light of morning however I'm now not so sure that was a good idea lol. I've decided not to order the dress I really liked from t'internet. I thought some of the reviews on the website looked funny (lots of exclamation marks where they weren't needed and even though all the reviewers had western sounding names the wording read more like they were of eastern origin) so I googled reviews on the company and turns out they're scammers sending out poor quality dresses nothing like the pictures. Just glad I read up before parting with any money. I'm always wary of any site that doesn't give a .U.K. Contact address. Fortunately there's still plenty of time to find something.

DGD is going to DD1's today for a play date with her cousins so I'm off to the Cath Kidston outlet for a mooch. Yay!

    Good Morning,

I did it! cleaned the house from top to bottom.Just need to do the windows, mirrors and glass now.I don't like cleaning but I like it when the house looks and feels nice.

Peppa what a lovely idea to get your granddaughter a special dress.DD2 was 8 when we got married and she just loved her big dress.

Good idea to research reviews,I must remember that. When i had my wedding dress shortened the seamstress had a dress in from China which she was having a nightmare with.It had been cheap but looked it.To send it back would have cost the poor girl just too much so she was sticking with it.

Research something called golden paste which is turmeric mixed with other ingredients. It doesnt taste great but you can make it into tablets and freeze them.A lot of people see improvement in arthritic pets and I always think that is a true trial. My knees whilst not better are very much improved, and thats only after a few days. There is a golden paste group on FB.

Snap with Cath Kidston shopping.I am off to Nottingham for the day,I am sure it will involve popping in to her shop.;)

Yay VULPIX, well done! My DGD will be 8 for the renewal too. That dress sounds very like the same sort of website, I think I've had a lucky escape. Had a lovely trip to the CK outlet and bought some lovely luggage (overnight hold-all and matching double decker bag), another mug, a wash bag and some hand cream :T Hope you managed to pop into CK too. I'm going to look up golden paste and find the FB group - sounds like it could well be worth a try for DH so thanks for the info.

MANDCO I've done nothing for Christmas so at least you're further on than me. :D

Peppa- sounds like 'all systems go' on both the move and renewal plans, bet you cant wait (for either). I bet DGD was beside herself with excitement at looking at special dresses. You will find the right dress so 'don't panic Mr(s) Mannering!' You have time yet. Glad you had a lovely time at the CK oulet x.

Mrs I- how are you managing with all the quiet in your house? Hope you are able to have a little 'me time'.

Vulpix- I have looked at GP and am going to make some for DH and my sis, as they both have various inflammation issues. Thank you for the info- its definitely worth a try. How is your thumb now btw?

Free- we had a lovely time at the theatre, especially as it was a freebie! Mind you there were some even more 'interesting' characters in the audience- one of whom was siting next to DD! He offered a running commentary of alternative dialogue to the characters on stage and he was hilarious!

M&Co- sounds as if you have a fab Easter planned with lots of activities. Enjoy!

I have painted the footstool in a soft grey and decoupaged the legs with a grey tinged wood effect napkins. I have made a few mistakes and got some creases in the paper but on the whole it looks good and a million times less offensive than the white to my eyes. I have also managed to finish my solar chandelier which I am pleased with, so much so that I stood in the rain at 10.30 the other night so I could take pics of it! During the day it looks pretty naff but the grapevine will soon cover that but at night its lovely and just what I wanted.

I have yet to decide what DD, Mom and I are having for Easter lunch, DH and DS are having crown roast of lamb (which none of us eat). I may play it safe and get a turkey crown which we can have with salad on Monday. Oh decisions decisions..

I have been up since stupid o clock this morning, over the park with the hound at 4.45, home, staked lilies in front garden as they are already 2 and half feet high, emptied more pots in the garden and had a general tidy up and dusted- and its not even 6am yet! Might as well make the most of it while I am on a roll.

Murie, you put me to shame!!! l have also been awake since daft o'clock, (forgot to pay the sleep fairy again) but all l have done is read and make lists still in bed!
l had plans for today, traditionally the day to plant potatoes if you want a good crop, (but in truth l think it evolved from it being the day off work for the men, at the right time of the year for planting)unfortunately it is raining so unless l plant them in bags in the greenhouse.......
Finally got all the gardening stuff out of the bedroom and have returned it to its primary function (no not to sleep in, but to store all the Christmas pressie stash) so it is still a tip, just a bit cleaner.
Peppa, great news on the moving front, and as for the renewal, you will find the dress, and DGD will love showing hers off as well. Go, you!
Free, roast lamb, yumm, family round the table with you, yummier, enjoy it all, l hope you get the tablecloth you want. l will be using one my gran crocheted, the edging is all eggs and chicks and little baskets, comes out every year.
Well done to you, and to Vulpix on the cleaning, l may have to do some, too, as environmental health would declare chez invis a health hazard, and issue a closure notice,.. except for the bedroom.
l have heard nothing from the holidayers, so they must be enjoying themselves, back on Monday, so l will do a family meal on Tuesday.
