Freespirit thanks for the heads up on the M&S shortbread my lot love it so always get a couple of tins in for xmas when 1/2 price

Chrissyg congrats to your niece. Lush does some lovely stuff but it is expensive. Dd wanted to get lush bath bombs for her friends gift bags last year so we ended up getting the butterbear ones as they are kind of xmassy themed being polar bears but only cost £2.50

princesskitty glad to hear things are settling down for you. They grow up so quickly and preschool is a huge step even if they have been in daycare.

Popped into the range today and they were putting out xmas stock :D nothing was priced but they had some lovely stuff. I don't get there very often as its kind of out the way but will def be making a return visit.

Asda have a few kids xmas jumpers online thought they were a bit pricey this year compared to previous years (£10-£12) but everything seems to be going up in price :( luckily its only Taz that "needs" a new one.

No gingerbread candles in my local Hb and if they are in the paper not likely to get one either as they were constantly oos last year anyway.

has a date been decided for the xmas wrapping session?

    tc all

  • Looking for ideas/ suggestions. Since I went on this diet, I have been putting £10 per pound lost into an account. I plan on giving half the pot held at Christmas to the charity I am involved with, but with the proviso that the money is used for luxuries for the recipients, preferably as a family. But what can I consider as a luxury. We will be fundraising so that they have can reasonable basics for Christmas, so looking for suggestions on what can be bought. At the rate I am going, hopefully there will be about £300 for them, probably looking at about 10 families, so £30 per family is not a lot but is enough tonget something more luxurious.
A smile costs little but creates much :)

That is an amazingly generous thing to do:A

for those with kids maybe some kind of family fun hamper? a nice fluffy fleece blanket(can be used for extra warmth if its cold and they can't afford heating) a cheap board game/activity sets/cuddly toy and a few sweet treats.

Hi everyone, I've just caught up on all your posts since I've been away on holiday. So exciting to hear that things are hitting the shops, even if we hear lots of moans and groans about it being there...it makes things so much easier to plan in advance and make sure I don't go spending too much!

I'm not sure if I mentioned last time, but me and my other half have decided we're not going to buy much for each other this year. We're going to stick to a smaller budget like £20/£30, as we want to go on an expensive holiday (or two!) next year, so our money will go to that instead. We get so many presents from family anyways :)

Now our summer holiday is done and the weather is turning, I'm definitely ready to get stuck back into Christmas planning. I might try to work out how I can get my friends' presents to be as "money neutral" as possible - using loyalty points, freebies etc. We all get together and exchange gifts which we then open on Christmas day at our own homes.

I need to get planning what to buy with the notepads I've bought for my other half's mum. I've got her a set of 3 cute little notepads to pop in handbags etc. and a nice bigger one for at home. ..any suggestions? :)

    Alja,a nice pen?

Hi Folks.Just a flying visit.I have been very busy this week.Been to two house parties in the village.Am in with the in crowd now!

I have finally finished the Christmas patchwork throw.

It's great to see Christmas stock coming into the shops.

Need to go and do some baking now as we are going for afternoon tea at my daughters in Sheffield. She just wants us to collect the chairs we left there last week really.

Has a craft been decided for us here?

I love the wrapping party idea,I am in.

    Vx

  • Alja - how about some cute sticky notes or similar that she can mark things on certain pages? Depends what she is likely to use the notebooks for I guess.

Noticed that Mr T had about half an aisle of xmas chocs when I was in on Friday. Whilst I was having a little happy moment to myself I heard plenty of grumbles and mentions that Halloween comes first - now that is over-commercialised lol.

My sister has mentioned that she wants to cut back on presents between us as she struggles to know what to get. This is fine except I have already started shopping for her and my BIL. Well at least things I don't give to them would be things I could use anyway.

I'm excited to hear the Range is putting out their xmas things. I bought a new 7ft tree last year which means I need more decorations to fill it - well that's my excuse and I am sticking to it :rotfl: I do usually love the things they do.

pens and sticky notes are a great idea! Thank you! I will have a look around to see if I can find some nice ones.

I noticed the chocolates and sweets in Tesco too and also overheard some people grumbling! It was helpful for me as I might be getting some of their bits for friends, so I took a couple of photos with my phone of what's available/prices etc to help me plan, haha :)

I've just put everything I've bought so far in a big box, ready for our wrapping party! Might have a sneaky peek at those stores already online to get some ideas now. I always find my dad really difficult to buy for, but at least he's always happy to try new beers and ales etc.
  • Afternoon everyone, I have just bought a Christmas Scratchcard Game from Amazon it has been on my list for a while and this is the cheapest it has been £3.77 I thought it was something a bit different for our after dinner game:

I had a nice long post all prepared and my iPad decided to switch itself of and when it came back on the post was all gone :mad:

I can't face rewriting it now so apologies everyone, thanks to all who've posted tips.

All your posts are making me feel really festive, must add more hot chocolate to my shopping list.

I'm up for the wrapping too although I haven't bought much yet but I'll just wrap slowly :D

FREE I'm off to have a look at that game.

Hope everyone is warm and snug, really feeling for those affected by Irma. Our weather might be a bit uninspiring but at least we don't have such devastating storms to contend with.

ETA - FREE I've just bought the game, actually I bought two, the reindeer o e and the Santa one. They should be great for Christmas Day. Thanks for the heads up.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
