Up with the kids to open their final advent calendar door. Making the pain au chocolat from a can;) for breakfast.0

Sat on the sofa drinking wine. No prep required here
Still on the sofa, but drinking tea now!I've had mine for over a week now.:(
Constant cough and snotty nose alongside a sore throat, pounding headache and aching feverish body.
I have given in and hit the bottle.
Kill or cure
More of a kill than cure unfortunately....I still feel decidedly unwell'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Final advent door was a squealer! 2 different chocolate coins and a special 'see you next year' note as the big FC is coming tonight instead. :T
We're currently nursing a pot of tea and I'm about to cook some bacon, mushrooms, eggs, toms and toast to celebrate us all being off together. It's feeling close, and hubby's never usually off Christmas eve or Christmas day so it's special family time this year.
No plans today bar making a batch of fresh mince pies to enjoy before bed and tomorrow with 'tea'. The best one will be carefully selected by ds for Father Christmas and will be left on the hearth with something to keep his spirits light. :rotfl:0 -
Resting in bed :-)2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

Right now..... I'm eating a scone with the last of my home made yellow plum jam from last year while listening to Radio Leicester carol service. In the back ground is a pan of butternut soup simmering away and home made tomato soup defrosting in a pot next to me ready for our houseful of family tomorrow.
I have already made a lemon cheesecake and a chocolate log and i have rolls rising on the oven so I am having a welcome break before i start tomorrows veg lol
Happy Christmas everyone!!0 -
Yesterday i made mince pies and sticky toffee pud and did the bulk of the food shopping.
Today i had a soak in the bath with my book, the gammon is boiling in coca cola and at some point I will pop to the supermarket for fresh bread and salad - but the supermarket is over the road so i can judge when it's quiet.
OH and i will go for a walk by the sea before a carol service at 5.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Melanzana I hope you recover quickly from your fall; I've had back pain since I was 17 (am 56 now) so I totally sympathise.
Currently awaiting the plumber; our bath tap broke yesterday evening, and can't be turned off, so Mr LW has had to turn off the stopcock to the bathroom, which means we have to flush the loo with a bucket of water from either the kitchen or the outside tap (which runs faster than the kitchen tap).If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Just put the ham on to boil and am debating whether to roast the goose now or wait till tomorrow
Have stuck the goose on as well. The house is smelling yummy, I've The miracle of 34th street on the tv and it's beginning to feel Christmassy
Also sterilising jars to hold all this goose fat, nearly 2 litres so far0 -
About to prepare veg and potatoes for tomorrow. However I don't know if what I'm going to do is ok. Planning to just peel the potatoes, carrots, parsnips and sprouts and store them in pots of cold water in the garage (nice and cold out there). Will this work ok?0

Will work just fine as long as the spuds and parsnips are totally submerged. Put a plate on them if they keep floating to the top. They don't go off, just discolour.
You can prep like this up to 3 days in advance, just change the water daily as the starch can make it slimey0
