Walk 2000 miles in 2017

thanks
Will give some of those a go later.
At the moment what seems to be working (mostly!) is making an effort to loosen the laces at the front of the boot when I take them off to allow them to 'relax out', and then not doing them to tight before routing them around the top ankle hooks.
Sometimes I can barely do a mile before they give me grief and I have to return home (thankfully, I have created a 'first mile grief loop' which is close to home so I can swap out to something else or completely give up on the rest of the walk), but then there are days where I could do 10 miles in the same boots with no issues at all!0 -
That's why I won't buy walking boots that don't allow me to have the bottom half of the lacing separate to the top. ie. just before you lace up your ankle it locks the bottom halfs tension so you can pull the top tight without affecting the bottom... if that makes sense.
You could always try 2 different laces, one for the bottom and one for the top bit?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Yep, makes sense!
Giving it some thought to look at maybe a running shoe/trainer next to see if that works out any better for me for my road walks. Might start looking around at the weekend before I run these boots into the ground to far!0 -
Good week for me at 69.9 miles this in spite of losing a 4 mile walk due to forgetting to switch my watch off and it counting the 7 mile drive home
I have now walked more miles this year than I counted last year from June to December0 -
Done my sunday run early and not going running again till monday so my total for this week is:
48.4 miles giving me a total of 655.6 miles so far this year.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
41.2 (+2.74 of weekly average target)... a quarter of that was done today! Not quote sure what's going on with my mileage. I used to be in the 50's a week! Must try harder to get up early in the morning!
Total 764.3
As for my foot issue - indesisiv your suggestion seems to be helping! Used a 'wider foot' method from your first link and created a window at the front. Immediately felt the difference and the pain has yet to return in those boots. I know the pain is still present as the same issue is appearing in my Van's trainers. I have a suspicion that the problem is an 'unobvious' blister deep in the toe skin itself!
I've ended up buying another pair of the same boots as they have just come up on a 'too good to miss out' offer at Go Outdoors and will store them for when I burn the current pair out.0 -
Four months into 2017
1,387,949 steps 2566 floors 1,114.05 km 363,151 calories
2016 for first four months was
1,075,756 steps 5142 floors 842.1 km 340,745 calories0 -
For me, 44.4 miles last week and another 7.7 today. Making an April total of 170 against a target of 165. Feel like I've been walking a lot but that could be cos a lot of it has been on hills. 1650 flights of stairs this month against a more usual 600ish. Need to try to build up my buffer again for next month!0

Reporting in at the end of the 17th week 30 April 2017:
As of midnight Sunday night, I have walked 1020.96 miles putting me 357.83 miles ahead of schedule.
Nice to get over the halfway marker. Heat is really starting to crank up here in the ME so my output is likely to fall back over the next few months. However, I am confident I can complete this before year end.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
For those that count floors / flights of stairs as ascent do you know what each flight is equivalent to?
Just interested to see how it compares.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
