Hi everyone
No spends for me today, it snowed quite a lot in the night and quite a few schools have been closed around here so it was lovely to watch them and their parents building snowmen etc.
May have to go out tomorrow for some milk but I will see as I have a tub of dried milk that could be used up instead.

We started wandering up the main central aisle, as I always do, and dd said why are we doing this? We always come and buy stuff we don't need... So, we bought the card and some (needed) toiletries, and left! I'm so proud!

Ohhhh well done, its very rare that I can do this, always come out with other stuff.£24 ish, lost receipt, in Morries wanted some brisket while on special, tonic waters, etc, had to use self service tills as friends waiting, picked up 2items I had coupons for, machine said no, I can`t take them back as no receipt, got very cross, as only wanted them with coupons, people behind me or I would have waited and had them deducted.Oh well, I seldom use those SS tills and never will again.
I absolutely hate those tills, have never yet managed to get through without a problem and having to wait for an assistant. Waste of time.

Hey everyone, thanks for the welcome.
In regards to snacks - there is no rule at preschool other than no squeeze yoghurts. Also I told my son that I wouldn't buy carton drinks as all rubbish gets sent home and I know he wouldn't drink it all and I didn't want a wet sticky mess in his lunchbag. I have told him as a compromise I will buy a carton of apple juice with the shopping I get delivered (once a month) so he can have a little bit at home now and again as a treat (as usually its just water or lacto free milk). This seems to have gone down well.
In terms of snacky food I suggested it might be nice instead to make some things like flapjacks or fairy cakes that he could take sometimes.
Today we have spent £1.66.
We needed bread but I have a breadmaker and all the ingredients in the house so we have stuck a loaf on to bake at the minute instead of buying one.
Also I usually use washing powder but last month I brought the capsules as they were cheaper (not necessarily better value just cheaper at the time) I had 2 left today and 3 loads of washing to do so I have gone through the washing and sorted it out into priority and done 2 loads and decided the third can wait until we get CA on Monday. I will definitely go back to powder though as usually i only use a 1/4 of the recommended amount so it definitely works out better value.
I have also gone through and done inventory and made a menu plan to take us up until payday and made a list of essential items that we will need.
Sunday we are over my Mum's for a big meal we were supposed to go at Christmas but were all ill so we wont have to worry about anything other than breakfast Sunday. Also we are taking the inlaws with us and where we have to drive 2 hours (total) out of our way they always put diesel in the car so that should help as well until payday.
I have to say thanks as im feeling so much more positive thanks to this thread.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
Small spend of £1.45 on chewing gum and bag of snacks for work. So much for being healthy.
On the plus side the Spicy Lentil soup I had cooking in the SC whilst at work was a rather yummy and frugal and healthy dinner tonight, with leftovers for 2 of next weeks work lunches.
The weekend I'm planning on doing some batch cooking for next week and a small top up shop to make sure I have the ingredients for my meal plans.
And we're out for dinner ( already paid for) xmas night out
Have a lovely weekend everyoneGrocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

Nothing else spent here. Need milk tomorrow though, and probably some cheap and long lasting veg like carrots and sweet potatoes.0

If the pre-packaging thing rears itself again, you could buy a sheet of clear cellophane from a florist and cut it into squares to wrap your hm cakes or flapjacks. Like the posh artisan health bars you see in coffee shops. It's a bit of a faff but it means you know what is in it and I defy kids to tell the difference. Not being too different can matter

NSD again here - I have just done my meal plan for next week and can't believe how little I NEED to buy this week. :j
Sounds daft but I am getting a real buzz from spending so little - it will be a bit different next month as I won't have the Christmas stash to use up, but it is only 4 weeks in Feb, so you never knowNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
