    Hi everyone

No need to go out today so my £25 is still intact.

    3.95 bread & milk

    91.37/160
  • £2.80 was spent. 80p on milk £2 on potatoes, new potatoes, a red pepper, a cucumber, a pack of organic carrots, raspberries and a pack of satsumas. Rather pleased with that!

    £72.39/180 running total
  • Hello everyone- I'm belatedly joining my first ever grocery challenge. We need to seriously tighten our belts and I have £110 to last the rest of the month for 4 of us (including 2 hungry teenagers). I have often spent well over £100 a week so £55 a week will be a challenge but I have quite a full freezer, though what's in it I'm not yet sure!
  • Oh, and does anyone have any good ideas on how to use up a glass of 4 egg yolks and a bit of egg white (left over from my daughter's attempt at meringues today!)
  • Life begins, Add a teeny bit of water and cover them before putting in the fridge so they don't dry out. Custard or curd comes to mind first as well as cookies and biscuits, shortcrust pastry, carbonara, scrambled egg, use in in meatballs or burgers to bind - although I never use them and mine are fine. Good luck and welcome :)

:( So mad , just got our bank statement and have £10.00 overdraft charge , was late transferring the shopping money into our joint account over xmas, all i keep thinking is that would have fed us all for 2 days!!! its never happened before and we will make sure it never happens again. The freezer is full , just need bread and milk so hoping not to spend anything else for the next 5 days to recoup it back, going off to sulk now.

If you've got any more eggs add a couple, whisk really well and make scrambled eggs or a big frittata with either cold boiled potatoes and onion or with any bits and pieces you have hanging around. There are lots of recipes online. If eggs are scarce whisk the yolks and white you've got, freeze them in ice cube trays or yogurt pots and use them up in quiches or pastry. I'd go with the frittata though, it will use them up quickly and makes a good quick meal with a salad, or a side veg (or beans).

Art Deco - I'd be annoyed too. Might it be worth looking round for a better deal bank wise? I think there are other forums on MSE that might be of use in a search.

Another NSD planned today, we have snow and rain flurries luckily so the idea of not going shopping, and staying dry and warm, has a very strong appeal :)
