    Rampant Recycler Debt-free and Proud!
    Afternoon all

Had another NSD here today :j

Gosh, I couldn't imagine not having a freezer now as I've had one of some kind or other for so long. I always think they pay for themselves quite quickly. Mind you, I do save and freeze most left-overs to recycle and nearly always batch-bake and freeze extra portions. Also means being able to buy large loaves, offers on frozen stuff and veggies like runner beans in season to prep and freeze. I make all our own soups as well, mainly because I like them and sometimes to use up older veggies. I hate to think how much we would waste without a freezer.

Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

I would end up wasting lots and shopping more without a freezer.

No spending here today on groceries. Toast and marmalade (small jar obtained from a hotel breakfast at some point - goodness knows when!!) for breakfast, leftover mash and cauli cheese from last night for lunch (with a huge helping of peas) and no idea what I'm going to cook for dinner!! :D
Also made gorgeous muffins using 2 bananas from the freezer, the last of the glace cherries, the last of the cheap baking marg and the last of the dessicated coconut (possibly ood - got the packet from my mil's kitchen when she died - was in date at the time...)

ETA: have decided upon pasta - will use up half a pack of lardons from freezer and also a big lump of baguette which was frozen - will turn that into garlic bread :)

    Hello,

I had a couple of NSDs in the last few days but did not go online to record them, so here they are. They only relate to grocery because I had to buy a part for the dishwasher, but as I am counting only grocery I will count as NSDs the days I do not shop for food.

Today we spent some money for lunch and parking at a hospital visiting DH's cousin who is poorly, this is a different budget too, but my grocery spend today is a grand £1.21, which is for a lemon and a YS packet of fish and chips at Marks for DH. Can't complain! My dinner is going to be the split peas that I cooked this morning before going out, with greens and a beetroot, all the veg from the allotment so no spends there.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

A spend of £15.99 for our top up shop in Aldi yesterday takes us to £135.23 for the month so far.

It sounds like an awful lot, but I am happy with this because we have more than enough food to last us past the 13th - we budget £10 a day for food.

On his way to take DD to Karate tonight, OH asked if I would want any pudding tonight, and I said no. He said not even any rice pudding? I said there's a tin there, and he seemed to think I'd want some. I haven't been in the notion for sweet food much recently. Really been wanting prawn cocktails though! But they're expensive! :( Today has been an NSD, and will remain so!

Anyhoo, long story - I am making a fruit loaf and a victoria non-sandwich cake, all with ingredients we already had in the house. The fruit loaf looks and smells delicious (the hardest part is waiting for it to cool!) and the victoria is still in the oven. I didn't have any sandwich tins - forgot I got rid when we moved... along with my loaf tin liners and hand mixer; what possessed me, I'll never know! - so it's been made in a round cake tin. Fingers crossed it comes out ok :o

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Following very stressful hospital appointment I have fallen off the budget wagon big time . 110 to add to my signature in aldeeeees. Oh dear.

None will be wasted but none was required. It started with weetabix - oh dear.

    Sighing as I type.

    Must try harder.

Oh no Maria - I hope everything's ok.

As you say, nothing will be wasted so even if your total is a bit higher than you wanted this week, you'll still see the benefit in the coming weeks x

    Hi

Sorry I should have put in, my hospital appointment went really well. For some reason any hospital thing at all seems to trigger a shopping urge in me second to none. I raced around aldeeee putting flour and porridge and stuff into my trolley. You would swear the shop was closing down. Totally wierd. I wish I had better self control. Dd is back today and she will very kindly call in stores when needed on her journey home from university. I live an hours drive from a shop.

    Have s happy Tuesday all.

Up to £64.91/£250. Needed milk so picked up most of the rest of the list. Unfortunately ran out of time to go to Asda as well, but will do that tomorrow.

Dinner tonight has completely changed as DH going to be very late and there was no point doing a risotto for one. So I ate out of the fridge and freezer. Yay.
