Good morning,
It is going to be a spend day because I bought bread from our local bread delivery man, then I hope to pop to the local market for a bit of fruit. If I cannot make it today, tomorrow will have to be another spend day because I will go to the farmers market. See how the day pans out.
Breakfast: porridge with dried apricots, cooked apple and almonds
Lunch: leftover lentil soup with added quinoa, fruit
Dinner: tempeh and vegetable stew, buckwheat, saladFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
£57 spent at yesterday's market, which is OK-ish and should get us through most of next week. I do need to go to the supermarket today though; the challenge will be to only buy what we need...
Made a classic mistake yesterday, though; I popped a little chicken into the slow-cooker to roast throughout the day, or so I vaguely thought whilst busy with business ideas. But it was nowhere near cooked at suppertime, and it was only when I thought back that I realised that it was nearer lunchtime when I actually started it off! So it stayed in there until I went to bed, by which time it was nicely done, and it's now in the fridge. Luckily I was able to switch supper plans fast & produce some corned beef hash. Now I need to re-hash my menu plans for the week to include using up a whole cooked chicken... chicken chasseur on Monday springs to mind, with any leftovers from that being made into a pie on Thursday evening, which is "eat it all up" night.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Not been to the supermarkets since last Monday - I think that is a first for me. Still no need to go this weekend as I've still got plenty. Your posts really help - thanks0

Morning All
Planning another 'eat from the stores' day today, which should also mean having a NSD.
The meal plan seems to be working reasonably well so far.
Thurs + Friday we had vegan shepherds pie with salad and veggies. Today i have got Jacket potatoes on the meal plan. So i'm going to make vegan 'tuna' sweetcorn as a filling for that, we'll have it with salad and veggies.
Does anyone know how to make bags of salad last longer? i find it all goes mushy and 'bad' after 3 days.0 -

I have quite a few of H-F-W books so I Googled the book you mentioned and I have to say it looks interesting.
I use this webpage for ideas. You put in an ingredient (I tried cranberry juice) or even two combined ingredients (I tried turkey and apricots) and it comes up with loads of ideas.

Food shopping day, only bought what was on the list and even put back the 'Free Wok when you buy three Uncle Ben's Products' in 1celand as I don't need Uncle Ben's products or a wok. Something you don't need is a waste no matter how cheap it is.
£1.29 on chopped frozen onion in 1celand
£4.34 on Milk, Bread, Orange Juice, Cucumber, Parsnips and Bananas in Mr TDebt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020
