No, I suspect the poster's knowledge comes from a study of the laws of physics. Which, as Captain Kirk was told repeatedly, "ye canna change".
The exact numbers may be debatable, but the relative numbers are not. Stopping distances depend upon the square of the velocity, so a small increase in speed leads too a much greater stopping distance, regardless of the efficiency of the brakes.0 -

Of course, these are for the dry - as we don't know if it is wet, you are busy texting or have poorly maintained brakes or illegal tyres as many do when they get the MOT check done.
