Well, I made the trip to Mr T at 7.30pm and grabby man wasn't there but a youngish woman I've seen there the last few times was positioned by the cabinet looking at her phone. We chatted amicably, I mentioned that I'd gone there specifically for the raspberries I'd seen there earlier but it looked like someone had bought them. She agreed and then, bang on 7.30pm, she reached to the back where she'd hidden them and took all three packets  I really need to start being a little less reserved.

I did manage to get a few sandwiches in a mix of fillings for 12p each which we had (a quarter of each flavour each) with a couple of fish cakes and a few chips on the side and a pack of 32 profiteroles for 60p :T we are going to be eating some odd things while I'm off work :D

In other news on the way back from my earlier trip I popped into the builders yard and bought a kind of breeze block affair but with holes in it (a 9inch something or other) so the cats now have a step up to the cat flap. That's Christmas sorted for them :rotfl:

Have a good evening all :)

    Evening all,

Talking of our Old us Xmas' I've just sat and watched the Spooks film for free using the Nowtv trial whilst painting my nails with Nails inc, gel nail varnish from my stash with a glass of irish cream this was very different from the day before xmas eve a couple of years ago when I spent £33 I think it was to have gel nails done by Nails Inc in Debenhams, which was very busy and very stressful and didn't feel like I'd been pampered at all. (Hubby just reminded me that it wasn't just the nails I had done but I bought the fancy set of nail varnishes at the same time for £25ish!!) Oh how times have changed!

FatVonD - I can't believe the cheek of some people!! In our local Mr T's people get in there and use their trolleys to block anyone else getting a look in!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hello all on stress overload so sorry for not posting. I've been doing some work today in my day off and not getting very far! I'm worrying about everything dept of work and pensions called at my door today for my DH but they wouldn't say what for. So I'm worried now - not that we've done anything wrong but I can't help but worry. My DH has been ill, I hope his benefits are going g to be okay. Why did trey have to come on the eve of Christmas Eve!!! When he wasn't in too!!
I need to destress. I've signed up for two 2017 challenges and hope to pay off my CC debt and not add anything to it. Once that's sorted I can then move on to the mortgage.
Right off to meditate and shower and switch my brain off!

  • Mooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrning! :j Yay it's Christmas eve, work has finished, I had a lovely night out last night and saw lots of old friends which was so lovely, my darling ds and his lovely girlfriend are upstairs asleep and spending the day, and we are all going to the outlaws tonight for Christmas celebrations part 1. Such a lot to be thankful for!

Update on the ys turkey hunt. No nothing so far. But I couldn't hold my nerve so I got a stuffed turkey breast joint from Aldi in case I didn't strike lucky today. Plan is to make my way to the 2 nearest supermarkets today around 3. I'm hoping to get that, a prawn platter and a desert all heavily reduced :money:

Apart from ys hunt I don't think we'll be spending much today. Going to the outlaws for festive gathering, so free drink and food.

Anyone else struggling with pre-christmas bulge? I've already put on 5lbs  being a titch I only have to gain a few lbs before my clothes don't fit :o must show more restraint around chocolate, crisps and just general junk!

must do some washing and another tidy round - why can't we just be tidy people??!

contact my bff as last night she told me something upsetting about how the childminder is treating her ds, my godson and want to get a full update. He is currently undergoing tests for adha and the CM filled in a form about his behaviour and my bff has said she is really worried that the cm has been so critical of him :(

LuckyPenny sorry to hear that. Try not to worry too much xxx

Dawn your post about reunited the money to it's owner made me feel really happy. So good to know that people are try to help others :A

ok more coffee and then pull myself into gear! :D

  • Hello :hello: hi DNMS good luck with your hunt :D sorry to hear about godson, hopefully all evidence will be looked at in the round.

Dawn what a lovely thing todo, hope karma comes back with some act as equally as lovely

Lucky penny hope the meditation helped and today is less stressful

Quiet day here today, just a few jobs to do:
Kept 24 hole advent Callander insert to use to grow some seedlings in spring
    DH to make sausage rolls
Me to make rocky road (and try not to eat it all before tomorrow ;))
Going to extended family tonight for a get together which will be lovely as we don't see them often enough
Get washing that's washed dried so I can have a washing free house tomorrow!
Make last 3 chocolate slabs as gifts and wrap
See if I can get the fudge out of the tin, hopefully when it's back at room temperature it'll be easier :o fudge looks ok this time - tastes yummy anyway
Quick tidy round before we're out later so tomorrow I don't have to do anything before guests arrive

If I don't get on later or tomorrow, happy Christmas everyone, thanks for all your support in 2016
  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
Well, I just got over all of my mental health issues to be knocked flat with a cold and stomach pain. Ah well. The good news is that apart from the kids wrapping I am done. The better news is that ds hasn't done any shopping for me yet and is taking the kids out so I can do it then. Other than that I suspect today will be full of painkillers, tea and sleep. What a shame, but if I focus on recovering today I should be ok for tomorrow.
Luckypenny - hope you're ok. I completely understand the stress and overthinking. If you've done nothing wrong then there should be nothing to worry about that, although I know that brains don't tend to accept that (mine doesn't anyway) :p
DNMS - good luck with the ys hunting today. I'm not planning on even leaving the house... I went to Aldee yesterday and was thrilled to get all of my Christmas veg for £1.14 so happy days.

#after all there's only one more sleep til Christmas#

    Morning all

I've woken up with a festive black eye from yesterday's lifting errors. Oops! I've never had a black eye before. It's quite something. Skipped the Christmas eve Crossfit session - too sore, too tired and didn't want to exacerbate the eye

We will probably have to go to the in laws today as they are both rather unwell (in generally poor health all the time) yet insist on hosting Christmas for 10 every year  so OH and I are trotting round ours with some last jobs to sort the house before we are summoned.

    • B from stores L/D at inlaws?
    • Tidy round, quick hoover, empty bins etc - done
    • Strip and remake bed - done
    • Try not to look at myself in the mirror
    • Dye hair - done
    • Keep checking email to see if step-nephew's voucher has been sent
    • Finish hat
    • Pack case - done
    • Possibly marzipan the Christmas cakes (will not be finished til after Christmas now but we're not going to be eating them tomorrow)
    • Take Muppet Christmas Carol to inlaws so I can watch it before bed :D
I will likely post tomorrow but would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas. I hope it will be fun and peaceful xxx

    Hi all

Thank you for all your kind wishes. I'm feeling much better today after talking my stresses through with my DH. I got a lovely shower and meditated. I'm feeling very thankful today, its Christmas Eve and I'm lucky to have a house, food and family. We got a letter this morning from the Dept of Emp and Pensions and it looks like they are just doing a review of benefits. So looks like I might be worrying for nothing.

    - Going to a local free advent light event today
    - Finished wrapping all of my presents - did a load last night and my DD did the rest this morning.
    - Going to friends for Christmas Eve drinkies.
    - On standby for the sales; I've got a Next voucher and my DD has a New Look voucher.
    - Signed up for my first Market Research of the New Year on 2nd Jan.
    - Entered lots of Christmas competitions this morning. Fingers crossed.
    - FPL
    - Need a new microwave and pans so might keep a look out in the sales. The microwave is sparking!!!

That's all for today. Have a wonderful Christmas Day tomorrow. Hope you get all the YS things that you want.

    Afternoon all :)
Just sat down, I have literally been cooking all day (wild game sausage rolls, more mince pies, gamekeepers pie base to use up the rest of the game and pork mince). Still got a trifle to do for tomorrow and smoked trout pate for Boxing Day. OH can cook the blimmin' turkey tomorrow!

    Apart from that - :
Everything out of the fridge that doesn't HAVE to be in it
Nothing spent (just as well!)
Cards for neighbours delivered (I know, seems daft but they always send them to us, and I wouldn't want to offend :))
    Presents wrapped
Made a sale on ebay (believe it or not there are online vase shoppers even on Christmas Eve :rotfl:)
Listed another item so I can put it in one of the boxes out of the way
    No heating on downstairs
No luck in finding the owner of the money I found yesterday :(

Are you sure that person who called really was from the DWP Lucky Penny? I wasn't aware they had the resources to do house calls? Have you phoned to ask them?

Hope everyone has a lovely day tomorrow :)
Better get on with that pate!
  • Had a quick jaunt to A&E... started feeling a bit sick and wan, and was a bit worried combined with the head injury so rang NHS direct (who, I think, are pretty decent).
They recommended that I got to A&E so I did but have been given a clean bill of health. Phew!
