    Morning all :)
Bob, HM lemon curd will keep for two or three weeks in the fridge, but I have never known it to last as long as that :rotfl:
    For me today:
Used up a very ripe banana for breakfast
No heating on downstairs, and it will only come on in the bathroom and airing cupboard if the temp falls below 18 degrees. It really isn't cold in here, and we will light the wood stove to be cosy this evening :)It did get cold this afternoon, so the towel thingy in the bathroom and the little radiator in the airing cupboard came on. Got the stove alight now needless to say! Heated water for the washing up on top, free of charge, as it was on anyway :D
Just been to the post office to post an ebay sale, but it is closed today due to industrial action - ah well, I did tell the buyer she was unlikely now to receive it by Christmas. She said it didn't matter as she wanted it to use as a prop when she does her craft stalls, which I thought was quite interesting :) Anyway, it gave the dog an extra walk, and he is fast asleep now instead of pestering to be played with :D
Now the spendy bits - paid my tax bill to HMRC - still got OH's to do but need him here to get a code off his phone to get access  Still got to collar OH!
Booked my car in for its MOT and annual service  They can do it on Thursday, which I was surprised about, I assumed they would be really busy at this time of the year, as they are a popular local business. Anyway, it will get it over with! Hope it passes  I cleaned out all the carp from the inside, and OH took it to get it washed this afternoon, as it was really filthy :o

    Still to do:
Modest food shopping list to finalise, no going mad! I was horrified to read in the paper this morning that 2 out of 5 people will throw away bags of sprouts and, believe it or not, turkeys, most because they don't know how to cook them  Who are these people? None of us on here, I know! Why would you buy it if you can't cook it?? Buy something that you can cook, people, or learn how to do it! List done, might go tomorrow morning early!
Presents to wrap, ought to get on with this! Still not done this :(
Toying with the idea of making some mince pies :)Done
Lasagne to make for dinner tonight, using up bolognese sauce I made a couple of days ago :) I will chop up some leftover cooked veg from yesterday, and a couple of squishy tomatoes and add those as well :)Done, also chucked in some gravy left over from the roast we had on Sunday. The additions were not noticeable, but made it go a bit further. There will be enough for tomorrow as well :D
Got some small trout out of the freezer, as they want using. OH will get the smoker out tomorrow, and once they are done I will pick out all the skin and bones (most of it to be honest, they are really small ones he came back from Ireland with) and make the rest into a pate.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
  • Hi everyone :hello:
I had such a productive day yesterday - got everything done on my list. Not sure if it was because I'd made myself accountable on here or if I'd just been picked up by the Christmas feeling and being on holiday. I've been busy all morning again as well... but I feel just about ready for an afternoon nap or something though...
    So far I have:
    :xmassmile checked banking and PAD
:xmassmile been to the hairdressers with ds
:xmassmile prepped breakfast, lunch and dinner from stores
:xmassmile posted the last of the Christmas cards I'm doing
    :xmassmile daily housework jobs
Don't really have too much else to do other than to continue with present wrapping and desperately trying to finish this blanket...

Bob - The recipe I use says to keep refridgerated & eat within a month but it never EVER lasts that long as it is so scrummy......one of the lemoniest things I've ever tasted. Recipe just makes small quantity......a jar for us, usually, & a jar to give away x

    Today I have:

Remembered to take lunch to work

Didn't bother going to a sale on the floor below as I'd only end up buying stuff because it's cheap but we don't really need it.

I took a short cut through M&S and noticed that had those little dishes you put jewellery on when you're washing up half price and pretty much the only initial they had left was my mum's. I spent ages finding the best, non scratched one then I looked at the queue to pay:eek: so that went back.

    To be continued...

I have however tonight gone halves with DH on pizza but it's 2 for Tuesday so the cheapest night to buy it and I've saved some for lunch tomorrow also. I also bought chocolate buttons to eat in bed.

I cried off my colleagues leaving party tonight but he keeps popping in anyway so it's not like I won't see him again plus we were all out last Thursday.

Have a nice evening everyone :)

I need to get my shoes resoled. A bit annoying because I asked for them to be done when they were last re-heeled but they never did them so now I need to get them resoled (there is a hole appearing now...) but don't need heels. :( Probably more expensive than getting both done at the same time. Ho hum...

Eek, £18.95 for the shoes. :(

Also £11 for lunch (on top of the £10 deposit already paid)

    And £2.80 on travel.

Quite an expensive day to be honest!

Can't really be bothered doing anything tonight. I don't even have any crochet on the go...

    Night all!

FatVonD, I'm keeping as far away from the shops as possible as I hate queues ;)

Spent a lovely afternoon watching films with the kids & hubby and a picnic tea from stores.
Made a batch of fairy cakes and added some peanut butter to the mix, they tasted lovely.....once I'd chopped off the top of them all as I'd burnt them!!
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Hi all

Ridiculously pleased with myself. Splashed out at the charity shop. Bought a top for Christmas Eve, a dress for New Years Eve (still with tags on) and 2 lovely coffee cups that go nicely with our dinner service all for £15. The cs is Mind too so a charity close to my heart.

Boss bought me a sandwich (I forgot to take bread out of the freezer this morning) and there were biscuits, mince pies and chocolates galore at work.

Still very busy with the paid stuff but its making the week go quickly. Sticking to the mealplan and keeping a close eye on the spending. I think its the first year I have not started to think "oh stuff the budget - its Christmas"!

I was just thinking today about the various challenges on this board and I remember posting for fair while on a 'take your lunch to work thread' and how I'd pat myself on the back for each day done and how now it's second nature not to spend money on lunch and how I hate it if I've left my lunch at home and have to spend. It just goes to show that if you do something for long enough it becomes second nature, I just have to apply that to everything else!

Yorkshire Lass, DH and I had been joking that we should dress up as Santa on Christmas Day (he was joking, I was only half joking:rotfl: ) and I visited Matalan last week and saw a dress I liked but talked myself out of it as it was £20. I then saw an identical dress but with a 'novelty' print on their sale rail for £6 so, yes, I will be wearing a dress with robins on it :rotfl:
