    Hi All

Luckylady I'm amazed you have gin from 2014! That would not happen in my house :) I've never understood the leftover wine people use up in cooking either! If we open a bottle (wine) it gets used hic :)

    Cat you made it!!!

Home made lemon curd sounds fantastic foxgloves
Bob, we came back with half a bottle of wine too!! Dh rarely drinks these days as it makes him feel poorly (he's diabetic) and I've never been a wine drinker, tastes like vinegar to me  The wine has been put in the freezer and can go into the xmas gravy! :snow_laug

Today has not been a good one for me, I suffer from neck pain from time to time and today was particularly bad, I forgot to take my lunches with me so had to buy lunch. Today was also the first day without our lovely department head who has been made redundant so everyone has been extra busy and he popped in to pick up some stuff and looks and sounds totally lost :( Then my train home only had 8 carriages (again) so I had to stand all the way home.

In better news though I popped into the local Mr T to buy some bread and one of the staff caught me on the way to the till to tell me he'd done reductions early today (I'm equally pleased and embarrassed that he knows me!) but I limited myself to just one punnet of grapes for 22p as I was carrying some heavy (free) books already.

We went to bed right after dinner again, the reception on the TV downstairs isn't brilliant so it's easier to watch on the iPad and we don't need the heating on either. I've caught up now with EastEnders and The Apprentice, Gogglebox still to go!

    'Night all :)

Bobarella - You're right. Home-made lemon curd IS fantastic. I think people can be a bit wary of making it, but it is easy. No complicated ingredients....just caster sugar, eggs, lemons & butter and no specialist equipment....just a small saucepan, a heatproof bowl & a wooden spoon. And unlike jams & marmalades, no 'setting points', thermometers, etc.
It made 2 jars......one tarted up with a lid made from recycled giftwrap to give as a gift & the other added to a hamper we have put together for our festive hosts next week.

    Hello there,

Thanks for the kick off DNMS. :A When you said you were decorating at your DDs I assumed Crimbo decs - those would be some decorations with a day and a half left to put them up. :rotfl:
CLF - we got cheapo Norwegian Air flights too. ;)
CCL - Woop woop, you made it!
Big hugs to everyone feeling poorly - hope it passes soon. :grouphug:

Alas, I am working from home again this morning. :T This time it's because there is no one to look after the pooch (not that I told my boss that because he just rolls his eyes at doggy day care issues "my dog used to be fine at home all day by himself"...). I can't come home on my lunch break like usual because it's the Christmas team lunch so I'm working from home this morning and then just going in for the lunch IYSWIM...

I need to get my shoes resoled. A bit annoying because I asked for them to be done when they were last re-heeled but they never did them so now I need to get them resoled (there is a hole appearing now...) but don't need heels. :( Probably more expensive than getting both done at the same time. Ho hum...

Got myself a little bargain yesterday - bought two jackets (different sizes) and took one back. The woman couldn't figure out the % reduction of my £50 jacket that was down to £37.50 (and I didn't help her out :p) so she gave me the full-price refund! Said it didn't matter with the way she was inputting it so I got a full-price refund and my other jacket for £25. Even better because I originally saw it in another shop for £60. :T

    Other small things today...
    - Travelling after peak times
    - Walking - free exercise
    - Getting shoes resoled rather than buying new ones :o
    - Just got some chocolates to get for OH's Christmas - we're doing a £10 'open on the day' thing as we are going on holiday after Christmas
    - Night in tonight - Flylady will be my friend! Also need to think about packing - can imagine this being a Christmas Eve job for us!

    Take care everyone!

    Morning all,
Haven't really got going yet but the caffiene is working its magic & my job list is ready:
*Laundry washed overnight on cheap tariff so will be adding that to heated airer in a minute.
    *Make loaf in bread machine.
*Take mince pies out of freezer for in-laws' visit tonight. No need to buy anything.
*Be tough on cat who has ignored his breakfast & now appears to be in a massive sulk.I'm not opening anything else.
*Clear clutter from conservatory (which doubles as our dining room) & clean it. A job for my diluted Stardrops spray bottle & the ragbag, I think. This is my main job for today.
*Check if my strings of home-grown chillies are dry & if so, pack into jars. Will zizz up remaining dried chillies from previous year into chilli flakes as we are low on those.
*Finish shaping the foot on my sock. Will be wearing them this week & must then cast on some large size ones for the guys who've ordered some.
*Sort through all the supermarket vouchers on my kitchen pinboard to see if there is anything left that we are likely to use.
*Decide what to wear on Christmas Day. I always used to buy a new outfit back when I was a spendy madam. This year, I think I will wear the purple velvet tube skirt I recently bought in a charity shop for £2.49 with a top I already have. Will also dig kitten-heeled boots out for a polish & that'll be it. Outfit done. £2.49.
*Will be listening to Christmas CDs as I scrub the conservatory this morning. When we visited my parents last weekend, Mum was about to send 2 fully functioning CD players to the tip! We said we'd have them as one of ours has broken so that's a 'new' one for my HQ & one for the conservatory. One person's trash = someone else's treasure.
Right. Must hoist my ample backside out of this chair & get cracking.
    Cheers all,
    F x

Ah sorry, diabetes and alcohol hardly a good combo. And drinking alone isnt fun anyway.

    Morning all!

Feeling a bit sleepy today but will hopefully get going soon. I hope it's not the start of some lurgy! There seems to be a lot going around in the office!

have made a rod for my own back by inviting the neighbours round tomorrow for mince pies and mulled wine. Feel honour-bound not to just buy mince pies so now have to make them all tonight! then decided that should offer apple pies in case people don't like mince meat and some sausage rolls. Oops.

Also have a not-insignificant amount of crochet to finish before Christmas. and the presents to wrap. Aaaaargh! Might have to draft OH in against his will.

    Today's mission:
    • Send OH for baking ingredients - done
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Car in for service - use money from saved funds - grrr needs brake pads too. Not impressed as only MOT'd 7 weeks ago?! Either MOT carp or they are scamming me.
    • Sort spreadsheet with OH
    • Frantic baking and crochet
    • Charge phone in work
    • Crossfit at lunchtime - done
    Have a good one all

Really sorry your day was so hard. The pain must be horrible.

I did smile at you being known for your YS ways. I had a similar but different one yesterday.
I went into McD in the morning to cash in my free (wombled all the beans) coffee card. Let's make it known that I think the coffee is terrible. But it is free. And somewhere warm and quiet at that time of day to hang out with DD.
Whilst we were waiting a very nice member of staff who was on a break (badge said employee of the month) was cooing over DD and then said 'do you come here often' been a while since Ive heard that one:rotfl: and that he didn't think he'd seen me before, was I a regular?
At which point I felt mildly horrified that anyone would be a 'regular' in McD. But it was also the most genuine interaction I ever remember having in a McD. He was nice.

Sounds very easy when you put it like that. I wonder how long it keeps?

Morning all, It was so nice being back in my own bed last night :)
Homemade lemon curd only lasts a day at the most Bob - well it does in our house!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Today's list
:rudolf: Ys fruit bread that my dad sent us home with yesterday for breakfast :)
:rudolf: Mr T delivery [STRIKE]due within the next 1/2hr, only ordered..... back to edit as he;s just arrived[/STRIKE] deliveries been and I rejected a couple of fruit items, a bag of clementine's had a squished one and the banana's are very very green (I never find they ripen nicely when that green) so he refunded me both items but said to keep them anyway :)
:rudolf: Minimum heating will go on today as we have blankets & jumpers :)
    :rudolf: Check banking/update spreadsheet :)
    :rudolf: Check luckypone :)/numberplate :)/fpl :)
:rudolf: Do some swag$'s as not far off a payout if I knuckle down!
:rudolf: All meals from stores (now that we've got some food!) :)
:rudolf: Update freezer list with what I've just put in there :)
:rudolf: A load of washing in at 30 degrees :) and do the radiator shuffle to get everything dry
:rudolf: Finish off the unpacking and get the suitcase put away as its in the spare room and we've got family staying over at the end of the week
:rudolf: Clear and give the spare room a clean, also change the bedding ready for Xmas Eve

That's enough to be getting on with. Will add more later hopefully!
    Have a good day all
 Showered but left hair to dry naturally, continued the use up of various lotions and potions, this inc hair mousse that I bought for some unknown reason yrs ago, a face cream I dislike, some talc bought 8+yrs ago and some hotel toiletries :)
