Not sure what that kindle link is never used that, looks more for kindle owners, I use kindle unlimited through the kindle app. Upto 10/12 books to loan at once, you just log in, select store and near the top there will be a text link to kindle unlimited and away you go.

    Thanks.
I didn't think that that was part of Prime?
I thought it was another cost on top of Prime?

Kindle unlimited is £7.99 a month and is on top of the cost of Prime. PRime users can borrow one book a month for free.

  • Just bought a couple of firesticks and was wondering whether Prime was worth it or not.
Looks like it is, I'll pay for it by binning Netflix.

We were the same. After years at about £5/£6 Netflix emailed they were upping our price to about £10.
So we dropped it for Amazon. No need for sticks as the Xbox's have the Amazon app.

You can get Netflix on fire stick too but obviously depends what you watch.
We're away for Christmas and the place we're in has really bad TV reception but good wi-fi. Fire stick came with and saved me from going crazy!

Concerning the movies and TV series you can watch which are included in the Prime subscription - can you download them and keep them, or only watch them?
    Thanks:beer:

We have had Prime since it's inception. In a first world sense, we couldn't do without it.

For us, it's the next day delivery, prime video (streaming of tv shows and movies), early access to special deals, kindle lending library (one free book a month), family - meaning I can share our membership with family members living elsewhere.

There are other benefits, but we don't use Amazon Pantry or the special offer on nappies, music or prime photos.

    Have a read here https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201910360
You can pay monthly if you want to give it a short trial, there are usually free 30 day trials around or if you are a student you get special rates for a slimmer version.
Now this may be a daft question but how do you return the free monthly book. I borrowed one in September and thought it would automatically return if I deleted it of my Kindle but obviously not the case as it keeps telling me that I have to return it before I can borrow another one. Thanks

I thought there was an option to return as part of that message - otherwise go to your account / manage content & devices / books - select borrows from the drop down menu and then return from the actions button.

There's also another free book a month (to keep) for prime members from Kindle First - generally from a choice of 4 - 6 books.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/kindle-dbs/kindlefirst/ref=kf_lp_rw_gp_to_hz?_encoding=UTF8&ref_=amb_link_5zrTK9dZOVK785uXteBzaQ_10

I usually wait until later on in the month and check out the reviews before deciding.

I think Prime is well worth having, but I do read a lot, listen to music and stream quite a bit via Fire Sticks on my TVs. I usually go for the free credit for extra books and slower delivery when available - ordering stuff individually, instead of several items together on the same order can bump up the amount of credit  - it usually gets packed and arrives together anyway. Sometimes it is very handy to opt for next day delivery instead if something really is urgent though.

I've had a couple of free trials of the Kindle Unlimited (I think you get one a year) and paid for a month, but I don't think it would be worth subscribing full time. A lot of the authors that I read aren't in it and there is a plentiful supply of free / cheap books on Amazon. I will do the occasional month on KU if I'm in the mood to read a lot and it can be cheaper to read a series that way, rather than buying all the individual books. I have a separate wish list for KU books, so that if I have an active subscription, I'm ready to go.
  • No it's not daft, in fact I have to google it every time I return a book!
