  • I use the deliveries, the TV/movies, the cloud storage (unlimited photos!), the music service - if you use a lot of this stuff, it's well worth it.

  • It's also worth installing the Prime Now app on your phone - you can get stuff delivered within a few hours if you live in the right place. They do food delivery in conjunction with Morrisons.

You can also get £5-10 off your first order if you find a code.

Had amazon prime for quite a while, never paid, just sign up for a free trial every month
How do you do that? Do you keep adding new accounts? They won't let you keep doing it on the same account.

As it keeps track of your previous downloads/music, if you've ever bought those it would be counter productive doing that.

Back on topic, if you use more than one part it's worth having (eg next day post and TV). They also do monthly subscriptions now rather than just annual ones. There's also Prime Now if you're in certain areas which can get you two hour delivery of groceries and a selection of other Amazon items.

I've had Prime more or less since it was introduced. We used to live in a very rural location, and orders still came the next day with either DPD or Royal Mail.

The next day delivery is useful, but between my husband and myself, we do switch to the No Rush Delivery option quite a lot for the £1 digital credit. He's a big reader, and uses his for Kindle books. I'm a music fan, so I spend mine on their MP3 store. I'd like to think that we receive our annual subscription fee back in digital credit alone :rotfl:

Very rarely do I have reason to complain, but when I do, they seem quite keen to offer me an extra month of Prime for free as an apology, which makes it better value ;)

How do you get access to the Kindle books I can borrow ?

I just keep going round in circles with it !

Yep, The GMAIL . trick is very useful for that, Only use the extra account to take advantage of prime, the downloads etc stay on the main account

I've got it but was letting my membership lapse at the end of this month; OH has decided that he wants it. I think we'll end up adding it as a joint-account bill to be honest, having started using the household feature.

I signed up for the delivery times as I work from home less these days and the postie stopped leaving our parcels in the post room. I've actually had more issues with delivery since signing up, but I think my expectations increased so that's probably partly to blame.

We don't/haven't used any of the other features.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm also happy with my Prime membership but the next day delivery thing is a bit of a con. I'll give you an example:

I wanted a particular USB memory stick for my daughter and the price I found was £6 with free delivery, (not Prime). I clicked the Prime checkbox to show only items available on Prime, and the cheapest one was £9.99. So you do pay for next day delivery after all. This is common, but something I put up with due to the other benefits.

But those other sellers arent Amazon are they? And their returns policy might not be as good.

Likewise if theres cheaper options available, it does tell you "item available for less from other sellers"

I had a free three months with prime which neatly covered Christmas & birthday season brilliantly.

Now, I'm teaching my sons to be a bit more money saving, we shop around to see if Amazon is cheapest & they've even picked small stuff from Alibaba, so the "want it now!" seems to have been slightly outweighed by only got £X left...

My husband loves the sincerely obscure stuff that I tend to import from NZ - my local post office & I are on very good terms as if it's big or awkward or needs Customs, odds on it's got our name on.

I love Amazon Prime's raw speed - like it one day, hold it the next but certain items have become Prime Only & that *grates*. Why can't I buy headphones & pay the (reasonable) shipping?

If you have impatient children, can use the video (we watch Grand Tour with a brother scout), figure the Kindle library & make use of the special deals, I'd seize on it. If you can manage to wait a bit, or shop elsewhere, or cope without Clarkson et al, then you can can forgo Prime!
