Help!

I received a parking fine in January 2015, when I read the letter which had pictures of my registration number I was flabbergasted as it was for a car park in Birmingham where I have never been (I live in Liverpool). I contacted the company straight away who informed me to contact the police which I did, I received a log number for the call which I passed onto the company. Months passed and I did receive more letters but I took advice from forums and ignored them. Unfortunately this was the wrong thing to do, I received court proceedings and apart from me stating the obvious that it wasn't me the police informed me my car must have been cloned I still had to attend.
I appeared in Liverpool County Court and got a really good judge who gave me a chance to call the police to see if a crime had been recorded as a log number is not good enough.
I have 2 weeks to try and prove my case, the police have told me I cannot report it as a crime.
The fine is now outstanding at £240.00 plus court costs, I've already occurred £75.00 of court costs, I'm totally at a loss of what to do next.
I do not have physical hard evidence that I was in Liverpool apart from my word that I'm a honest person, they want to place a CCJ against me also and force payment within 2 weeks.
I work for the Post Office so a CCJ could cost me my job.
I'm so so upset! And the worst thing about it, the car park charge was only £1.00..

This is probably better posted in the Parking sub forum found here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Read the FAQ bits as they are really comprehensive.

    Aren't parking transgressions "keeper liability"?

If so, the OP's whereabouts are irrelevant, he needs to prove where the car was instead.

As said above, expert advice needed.

    I received a parking fine...

Unless it was issued by the police or council, it isn't a 'fine'. Just a claim from them - ie. a civil matter, not a criminal one. They will be claiming that you (or the driver of the car) entered into a contract with them, which you/they didn't honour. So they're trying to claim the money they believe they are owed.

DOn't panic. Even if you lose, you have 30 days from the judgement to pay up before a CCJ gets added to your credit record.
  • I've sent Crabman a message asking him to move this to the Parking forum. It will get more help there.
  • Hi, thank you all for your input, this is the first time I've ever used a forum, it was 2 day before my sons 1st birthday, it was a Saturday, so not working, I go to the hairdresser on a Saturday but no electronic system, no debit card payments, old style blackberry phone so no location stamp.
I'm now in bits as even if I cannot prove anything the fine is now up to £250 plus cost I couldn't cover this within a 30 day period, I only earn £420 per month.
