Noddle????

in Credit cards
Hello, apologies if this question has been asked a million times - I did try looking back through post headings but couldn't find anything that looked relevant - I have just been to the Noddle site to join and I am being asked for all my credit card details. It states clearly that Noddle is free and you won't be charged anything, but as well as the main card number it asks for the 3 digit code on the back. WHY???? As a paranoid old lady with OCD tendencies I backed out of the joining process to come and ask you knowledgeable people "Is there a catch?" Am I likely to find that someone has booked a Caribbean cruise on the strength of my credit limit? Help would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

No catch, it's totally free. I've had it for almost a year and never been charged a penny.
They do have parts that are optional that you can pay for (i never have) and i guess that's why they ask for your card details, in case you decide to use the paid for bits.0 -
Also, as part of the identification process - to make sure it is you that are applying for the credit report - they might ask your card details and other financial information, such as when you oppened you credit card account or something like that.
As long as you subscribe to the free service, you wont be charged anything. Also, make sure you are going straight to their website https://www.noddle.co.uk, and dont follow dodgy links.0 -
As above^ it's a security check.
Without it, anyone could pretend to be you and gain access to your personal info.
It's normal to require the 3 digit code, on card-not-present transactions, it's part of the verification process.
Used noddle for years with no problems.
You did right to ask though, if you were worried.0 -

I have been using it for over two years now.
As above no catch. It is part of Identification Process.
Some CRAs are even asking for your Passport ID Page ...0 -
Thanks for the swift replies folks, it is easy to fall into the paranoia trap with the number of scams about these days; scammers are so inventive - I think I've got "hyperimagination syndrome" (wow, I think I just invented a condition!!!!) but they beat me hands down! I shall go and join

Noddle wants the code so it can charge the OP for services in future.0 -

When I joined Noddle years ago, they took my card details and put a penny pending on my account. It was part of the ID process and no money was or has ever been taken. The penny dropped back into my available balance a few days later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Except there is no card-not-present transaction involved here, so how would Noddle be able to check that the code is correct?Noddle wants the code so it can charge the OP for services in future.0
