A mixture of a few of the above:

I want to do up this place, sell and move (taking on a bigger mortgage),
I want a job I love (or at least don't hate),
I need to be in a situation where I have my more of my income available for DS going to uni (got a while he's only 8).
    Mortgage OP 2025 £7500/7000
    Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

    Mortgage balance: £34,465

    Money making challenge £78/400

The thought that is not the debt only, but the interest on top of it, is unbearable. So your debt feeds those fat bankers and is part of somebody's "quartely bonus for efficient performance"....

Originally I wanted to be debt free so that I could stay at home with my fourth child instead of having to slog my guts out at work and not watch my little one grow up.

However, I didn't manage that and the !!!!!! hit the fan when I lost my job along with OH. It was more about keeping our heads above water then!

Now I want to be debt free so I can stick two fingers up at the nasty people who prey on people who are not educated in the world of money (i.e my in laws who still think the bank is trying to do them a favour when they offer them a loan to pay off their credit card and sell them payment protection - even though they are in their seventies!).

I also want to HAVE to save for what I want as I am finding that I appreciate things much more when I have attached value to something. Hope this makes sense......

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • I want to be debt free because I want to know what it's like as an adult! I've *always* been in debt since turning 18. That's 18 years of debt. I'm just sick of it.

I also want to be able to save a bit and spend a bit without worrying and feeling guilty.

I think I will be a new person when the day finally comes!

  • I want to be debt free for so many reasons! I want to be able to genuinely treat my mum to a holiday rather than having to treat me. I did take her to NY but on my CC and it will mean SO much to be able to take her having saved & debt free rather than her giving me a holiday. I know she doesent mind but I do! I also know she is so proud of what I have done & that makes all the difference..
Mostly though I want to NOT do what I did yesterday; get my pay; sort out bills & realise that I've been an idiot! It's not just the one realisation but a continued reminder ever month that my total stupidty got me where I am today! Plus one of my loans alone is over 8000 in interest, front loaded and cant make overpayments so there is no point even paying it of early which is galling!
and finally...I want to go to Thailand on a jungle trek holiday. I lost weight so I can do it physically but not because of the debts!

because i want to live in New zealand with my best friend in the whole wide world, and thats said, not with my head, but my heart and soul. I ache for that place everyday and realised the first ever time i visited what the term "home" really meant. I miss it every day, i think about it everyday, and i won't truly be happy or fulfilled, whatever life brings me here, until i am back there. And THAT is why i want shot of my debt.
(sorry for heart on sleeve reply there!)

  • I want to be able to pay for my DD's needs and wants without worrying.

I don't want her to be the odd one out at school - not able to go on school trips etc 'cos her parents were stupid with money before she was born.

I've got 4/5 years before she starts school so I should have cleared quite a chunk by then.

Also if I manage to have a second I want to be able to enjoy my time off, without worrying how the bills are going to be paid and DH missing so much of the early stages as he's always at work on overtime to make up for my missing wage.

  • I WANT to be debt free because:

    * I want financial security for my son, and I want to be able to buy him what he needs without having to worry/eBay my dog to get it.

    * I wan't to be able to teach my son the value of money, so he can learn from my mistakes and try not to make them himself.

    * I want us to be able to buy a house for our family - I wanna be a MFW too!:o I want to live in my own house, and not pay someone so I can live in theirs!

    * I want to have money in my savings acc, knowing that it's not just there to pay of my CC bill when the APR offer ends :D

    * I would love to be able to work part time, so I can spend more time with my family
