You're doing well with Talktalk but I would suggest you're not an average Talktalk user.

For a start you're in a package that nobody else seems to be able to get. Quite an advantage in the first place and not a true reflection off their packages.

Secondly, your speed is good but again not the average for Talktalk. Even official organisations like ofcom recognise they tend to offer slower speeds on average than providers like BT. Talktalk are officially a mid range provider.

And lastly their customer service is officially poor. It's said to be improving but still recognised as poor. Even their retentions team were frustrated at this bit when I left them. They could combat most things with offers (although nothing as good as what you say you're on) but when the customer services were mentioned they sighed and almost gave up on that one.

I can see you're quite passionate about Talktalk and at first I suspected you worked for them and had some sort of loyalty, but now maybe not. Either way I don't want to see people misled from an unusual user experience that's not the norm in to getting a package and service they'll probably not enjoy when on average better packages and services are out there.

I am inclined to agree totally with you, I hate TalkTalk with a vengeance.

Bad service, disrespecting customers, tell lies to customers, systems charge you when you leave even when you cancel, misleading sales pages, loss of customer data causing fraud, sell your data without your permission.

I was on a management course once where they talked about company values coming from the top (think John Lewis), well one can only draw the obvious conclusions.

The way they dealt with data loss scandal after they allowed themselves to be hacked really showed their cards.

There was a time when they were competitive but they all seem to be working together to hold prices high, they just take it in turns to offer "deals".

We have new class action laws in this country for cartels now and in time I am sure we will find the broadband companies are working together to be anti competitive.

I'm not sure your market analysis is correct. From what I've seen, Talktalk and Plusnet are consistently cheaper, and VM and BT are consistently more expensive. Sky is somewhere in the middle, and historically has offered better deals when customers buy already expensive TV packages.

The market has been shaken up in recent months by regulator intervention, and this led to the removal of the psychologically impressive "Free Broadband" deals. Hopefully ADSL deals will creep back, although the market seems to be focussing on Fibre at the moment.

I have been with Talktalk for several years, despite the fact that I try not to do business with companies who use overseas call centres. They have "dodged the bullet" of my moving to Plusnet several times, but overall I find their service to be fair VFM and very reliable.

I was a year without broadband and watched the market very closely. Yes they all have their rehearsed deals.

BT bundle TV and rotate a mastercard deal
Plusnet owned by BT rotated the same two offers for a year, nothing exciting.
Sky had a deal for £100 in March and £61 in June
Virgin tend to focus on higher value of market, sold off their BB biz, do deals on retention
    TalkTalk hardly competitive at all.

Now consider how it was before.

    EE pricing to win business
TalkTalk for £24 a year including line rental
Sky for £5 for a year including line rental
    Plusnet competed with the above
BT also matched or did some serious bundles or upgrades to fibre
Also the retention deals were often better than the intro deals, again bundles

In 2014 I paid £24 a YEAR for 12mb ADSL, Line Rental, Anytime Calls, International Calls, a TV Box, router, and some network over power adapters.

It was in 2015 that they stopped the competing, they all just happened to decide to increase call bundles like anytime by 50% and they all decided to ditch evening and weekend calls for just weekend calls. CHARGE YOU MORE GIVE YOU LESS.

I will not be ripped off so I got rid of land line, use Whatsapp and Mobile, also have skype and VoIP but rarely use.

Now they have agreed to increase their prices year on year, yet their costs have remained static or even reduced as they have kit in built up areas, waiting for Gov subsidies to do rural.

IMO this is not a functioning competitive market. Also disappointed mobile carriers not choosing to compete with 4g,
