Would you be more impressed with someone with a big, detached, modern, 3 bedroom house with an average, normal car and not a lot of disposable income to do want they want with (under £50,000) or someone with a new build, 2 bedroom, very modern, slightly smallish apartment with a nice car and a lot of disposable income to do what they want with (£100,000/£200,000)?
More impressed by? 106 votes

Neither, its not what stuff people have that impresses me (or doesn't) about them.
Odd question...0 -

Not to mention, 'house size' isn't exactly a good measure of wealth. My parent's house is twice the size of mine and in far better condition. Mine is worth 40% more than theirs0 -

What?! Just what!?
Why would either impress me.
It's like when your'e driving down the motorway and there's a high end new plated car. Most are on finance or leased. Hardly something to crow about.0 -
1, what a strange question - stuff isn't impressive. 2, I'm really baffled by your definition of "not a lot" of disposable income - plenty folk would be very happy with £50k all in, never mind disposable! Why modern places also? Very strange...0

More impressed by average apartment and nice other thingsCan you only reply if you have an opinion on which one you think is more impressive. If no one gives an opinion then I'll just carry on saving for whichever one I think people will be more impressed with from my future experiences when the time comes to buy one.
If you can't see that there is a glass ceiling that people are judged on depending on their material possessions (home, vehicle) and disposable income then you've either been working or middle class for too long to see that there are many people societaly above or below you who have looked into social mobility and would like to improve their life.0 -
Equally impressed by neitherWeird thread. Why would anyone be impressed or otherwise by either option?
Have to laugh at your follow up post. People who judge you on such nonsense are not people I'd want to know. There's more to improving your life than taking on debt and trying to keep up with the neighbours.0 -
I'm unimpressed.0

What a ridiculous question! I'm seriously UNIMPRESSED by it!
I WOULD be impressed however by someone who realised what a ridiculous question that is and realised that life is NOT about impressing people :cool:0 -
It's not the size of the house that matters - it's how you use it.0
