  • I just wish at the minute I could afford to pay stepchange more at the moment they are getting 110pm but with my outgoings I can't afford more. I am pulling out 220 on driving lessons a month, and I am trying to buy bits for my flat. The previous tennants taste in furniture sucks, they left a double bed which I think in part is crippling my back.

I suppose that's the good thing about Stepchange though - they're giving you the opportunity to pay what you can afford and when you have more, you can increase that. Short of finding a way to bring more money in, it sounds like you're doing your best right now with what you have.

Also, i remember you saying you pay hundreds of pounds on rail fares to see your child - once you've learned to drive, you might have some of that £220 per month on driving lessons to move onto a car, fuel, tax, insurance etc, but that money spent on rail fares will become available to re-allocate.

No matter what, it always seems like a waiting game but at least you're making progress.

  • This is all true Jojo I spend at the minute 110 pound on transport to work and generally getting about.

re my son on school hols train fares vary its anywhere from 200-250 quid every other month. Once i am driving i would probably save easy 50-75 as i would drive down book into a cheap laterooms hotels then drive back the next day. I am learning in a diesel so the plan is a 1.4 or 1.6 diesel.

I know diesel/insurance/tax will be more month on month than what i pay on travel expenses on buses but i really dont care its going to give me 90-120mins back of each of my working days.

  • Kerching kerching P.A. rules i have dropped another payment today £6.70 on route and £7.05 on route from the other day.

I will start waiting for £20 quid to avoid fees in the future but at the minute my account balance is quite low.

Great news Scott! Once the summer holidays are over, things should pick up again and you could probably clear £20 in a week! I've been using Circle and it's working really well. I'm at £17.21 with 60p to clear so i'm going to wait until £20 to cash out. I like round numbers :)

Total income from PA in about 2 months is £112.84.

    £112.84 in 2 months me likey :-)

Yeah once i am paid i will stop dropping the smaller amounts, they are just getting my current account back upto the over 200quid mark. At the minute things are tighter than i would like, my boy is up at the week so surveys are going to go on a back burner.

What to do to keep a 14 year old occupied.

I don't know much about 14 year old boys...mine are 2 and 4 so still a way to go. I'm sure you'll find some fun, reasonably priced things to do.

  • I think its going be a lot of stuff that's either mountain bike related or xbox related. My son is easily entertained, i don't do stuff like the cinema or museums done them all and they are a rip off.

My son has morphed into a lanky teenager I don't like it last time I saw him he was 5-8 tall and i am 5-10 if he is taller than me I am leaving him there lol.

Jeezo - that height at 14? Don't fancy being the one to have to buy his shoes!

Haha I'm 5'10" so quite tall for a woman and I can see my two boys towering over me at this rate! They're already tall for their age, both of them.

Glad he doesn't take much amusing - I suppose if you don't see him daily then it's nice to just spend time together and hang out. If you get good weather then that opens up a lot more stuff to do. In Scotland, a lot of our museums are free entry so the only things you can get suckered in by is gift shop and cafe, hence why i need blinkers a lot of the time :)
