  • Morning all,

A bitterly cold -3.5 at my house this morning, thankfully I have my garages back so no need to de-ice the car.

Just called and sold my banking shares so that has raised £236.21.

  • Hi l-p

You sound like you've got things fairly well under control! Sorry to hear about your circumstances, but hopefully things will all be on the up from here!

Yes they were just sat there getting virtually no dividend each year so may as well cash in.

    Hey FN,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes circumstances are different but I am really positive about it all, best way to be I think. Every cloud has a silver lining, just got to keep looking for mine.

    Morning all,

Had a very good weekend, I have listed a couple of items on ebay one is into the final few hours and the bids are starting to rack up, the other item however....... nothing so far. Got plenty more to list but not putting it all on in one go. Next up will be one of the old cot beds.

Over the weekend I have added some latches to my sheds and gates for extra security and I can see the padlocks have arrived at work today so I can fit them tonight.

I have also sorted through old photos and separated any with the ex out, a close friend has also set me a challenge to replace every single picture in the house in frames with new adventures from this year! So challenge accepted, lets see how many new memories we can make.

Did quite a few miles of driving over the weekend in the daytime, I visited an old uni mate and caught up with him on everything. It was nice and i've missed having that social side to my life actually. So what with the driving a few drinks I've not had the cheapest of weekends, especially since my car's MPG is shocking (I am not even prepared to say how bad it is.....)

Couple of matched betting results came in which added another £33.60 to my total.

Last night was the first night in a few months I went to the gym and boy could I tell I hadn't been in a while! I'll go again each night this week apart from Wednesday as I really need to get training because April will be upon me with the 10K before I know it!

  • Just sold first item on eBay and pocketed a nice round £40. Another 12 hours left on the next time.

    Nice start.

Hi LP! I remember you from way back. Sorry to hear about the circumstances but brilliant positive attitude!

I do bits of matched betting. I don't enjoy it very much I have to say but it can be a useful extra income source. Just wondered, do you know about smarkets? Their commission is lower than betfair, 2% I think.

I'd be interested to know how you're planning on earning over a grand with bank accounts. I'll be lurking with interest :-)

Good luck with this new chapter

Glad to see you back though sorry about the circumstances. Good to see you being so positive and you look like you're settling into your new life well :D (oops - bit of a Freudian slip there, initially had you settling into your new wife :rotfl:).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hey, just happened to stumble across your thread. I'm just getting into matched betting - been doing a lot of research and following various success stories attempting to get the gist of it.
I've personally signed up to oddsmonkey which is £15 per month but benefits from having a step-by-step guide on who to sign up with first and then has a whole separate section for existing customer offers. While it may not benefit you yet it may well do in the future once your sign up offers run out. It also has up to date daily offers for existing customer accounts as well as how to benefit from casino offers etc.
A fella at work uses profit maximiser which he raves about but essentially is the same concept as oddsmonkey. Worth a look into for more direction going forward if you haven't already.

    Morning Courgette,

Yes I am back and with a vengeance! I've learnt to only worry about the things I can control which basically are 1) how I feel and 2) how I behave, beyond that its out of my control and therefore worrying about it is pointless.

I guess I am spending maybe 30 minutes every few days on matched betting now, i've used quite a few of the opening offers so its the next stage that will be interesting. No I can't say I have heard of them, i'll look into that today. Currently still using the students online helper to work everything out which makes it simple.

How am I going to earn £1000 from banks, well I have never switched in my life so currently all the switching deals are open to me. Every month or two I will be opening a new mule account with yorkshire bank or somebody who doesn't have any switching deal so I won't miss out by using them.

    Bank switching
    Co-op £ 150.00 £5.50 p/m
First utility £ 100.00 100 if you leave 6-12 months
    M&S £ 100.00 £120
    Yorkshire bank £ 150.00
    TSB £ 100.00
    Halifax £ 100.00
    HSBC £ 200.00
    nationwide refer a friend £ 100.00

Thats £1000 exactly initial startup with £220 if I do the follow-up offer. on top of this its possible for me to get £1017 bank interest in a year from current accounts (Once they have been filled up since I am stoozing), in order to do that here are the bank accounts I need to have active:

Bank Max amount DD pay-in % Max interest
    Santander 20000 2 £ 500.00 1.50% £ 238.00
    Club Lloyds 5000 2 £1,500.00 4% £ 196.00
    BoS 5000 2 £1,000.00 3% £ 148.00
    Nationwide FlexDirect 2500 0 £1,000.00 5% £ 124.00
    TSB Classic 2000 0 £ 500.00 5% £ 97.00
    Tesco Bank 3000 0 £ - 3% £ 88.00
    Halifax n/a 2 £ 750.00 0% £ 60.00
    Co-op n/a 4 £ 800.00 0% £ 66.00
    Total 37500 in savings

    Max interest £ 1,017.00

Haha, if there's one thing I know I won't be doing in the future and that is getting married! It would have cost me a darn sight more than £200k if I had!

Thanks though GG, I'll get there just a case of how quickly. All this time being single whilst my bills are lower for many items my fuel bill this month is rather high :o

    Hey Schtee,

Thanks for dropping by. Okay that does sound helpful then if it is basically an idiots guide and tells me exactly what to do next. If it takes the hassle out of having to look offers up so long as I use it enough I guess that will be worth it.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • Okay so I sold the other ebay item a whooping £7..... go me haha. It all adds up though right!

I am going to list a couple more items today which should hopefully be another £100 in total I guess if I am lucky.

I need to have a tidy round the house tonight as the children are back at mine this week and I have a date tonight. So fingers crossed!

Last night I made myself salmon, with potatoes, cauliflower, mange tout and a homemade cheese sauce. Was quite a bit of effort for the sauce but boy was it tasty! After that I spent some time at a friends house and didn't even realise the time was 1AM when I got home, these late nights are going to catch up on me sooner or later.
