  • No not depressed at all! Just need to find myself a traveling buddy. Rome is the main one I want to visit. I am thinking a week should be enough to do it all hopefully?

Well things with the ex I can see are already on the slide, I have been careful up until now on exactly what I post in case she or somebody who knows us happens to stumble across this.

However the cheek of her is starting to grate on me and her expectations even now that we are split continues. She almost see's me still as a backup piggy bank should things go wrong, or assumes I will drop anything and everything to help her with be that a flat tyre or even choosing which broadband service to have. Surely the point of wanting independence is entirely that..... to be independent and learn to stand on your own two feet.

I know what will happen she will use the children as a bargaining tool against me, she's already threatened as much about restricting access unless she gets her own way. But for once no, I won't have it.

Sorry I know its unlike me to vent, but she is really getting under my skin. I'd quite like 3-6 months of no contact from her.

  • The house is somewhat quiet now I haven't got the children anymore, feels a bit strange, but then I knew it was always going to be like that. The plus side is I will have less time tidying up after them....

Matched betting taking some of the profits out, had my first gubbing, so I am not banned from betvictor. Only placed two bets and boom, account blocked.

Not really a no spend day yesterday, I went out and had a chinese. It was tasty though, today won't be any better I need fuel and I need to do Mr A. Along with that my car is in the garage this week with a slow puncture and a couple other issues..... great.

  • Hi LP

Wasn't implying that you were depressed at all - its a deeply emotional place and when we went we didn't realise that DH was on a downward stretch at the time (hindsight is a wonderful thing).

It is incredibly interesting though and if you are into archaeology it's fantastic!

We were in Rome for 3 nights and we did loads - but could probably do it all in a week!

  • Yeah I quite like my history and find some of the structures they were able to build fascinating, I need to look into the specifics of travel between cities etc but I am looking forward to it.

Didn't end up at Mr Al's last night instead had a cooked dinner made for me by my friend and his wife, so ended up as a NSD. I actually took a half day from work and built up DD1 new bed and started consolidating all the cupboards, first with the bathroom so I can see what toiletries I have left and what I need to stock up on. I've got some crates which I am stacking everything in to keep it organised.

Tonight I will need to do a food shop and get some fuel and then I have some more gym equipment that needs assembling, followed by going into the attic and having a sort out as its a mess up there right now. I need to filter whats to keep, whats to bin and whats to be sold.

  • Just updated Anglian water usage so my direct debit has dropped down from £50 a month to £28 (Although it will drop to £21 later in the year as there's part bills to come out still).

  • I did read your other diary through a few months ago, I love the longer ones to get hints and tips from

Its great to be in control of your own destiny. Me and my husband didn't split up, fought a lot though. I got the cost of a divorce through his debts, but we worked out our quarrels. Starting again financially is quite liberating.... although costly. Good luck with it all, you are very money savvy.

Your year plans are great. Been to Rome a few times and Venice once. Not yet been to Milan or Pompeii but they are on the cards for the future.

    Hey there MFD,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes I stop the old thread as its a clean break so for me I guess it was more symbolic than really anything changing in the actual thread itself. Not sure I have too many tips though as there are plenty others who seem to be able to squeeze a little extra juice out of every penny but I do my best.

Yes I have some big plans, I just need to find the right person to do half of them with.

On a MSE side of things I have just signed up with Sainsburys for their 0% credit card and got a £12,000 limit so I am now also officially stoozing. If I speed £250 at Sainsburys on fuel or food in the first 40 days I also get 5000 extra nectar points.

  • Withdrew £118 from 188bet yesterday, so my running total is -£74.50 the rest is tidied into ongoing bets or in my betfair account.

I have a few jobs to do at home on a night to still get tidied round:
    - Fix DD1 broken drawer
    - Sand down, plain and repaint some bedside tables (one to go into DS and one into DD2 bedroom as their original units went to their new house)
    - Sort attic and start selling some old items on ebay and what doesn't sell put in a car boot pile

Car has gone into the garage today so that will cost me some.... but at least I will know its going to run a treat afterwards. I have a few other things I want to add to my truck mainly for when I take the kids away in the caravan. Their new car seats arrived yesterday (what with the law changing).

MSE side of things I have drawn up a list of crafty ideas for friends who I will make things for their birthday, here are some of the things:

    - Watercolour portrait of their children
    - handmade coasters with maps (One went traveling so I am going to do a coaster for each location she went to)
    - Bookmark with picture of their child
    - Wood etched chopping board
    - Hollowed out book with some treats inside

Busy for the rest of the week as I have the children again now, this weekend we have lots planned. Meal with grandparents on Saturday, visiting an Auntie in the afternoon and then another meal booked on the Sunday with another Auntie.

I am getting plenty of sympathy meals out of this splitting up malarky! So that's one small perk at least.

  • Did the food shop at Mr Al's was £93 and had to fill up fuel another £70. But the food should last me a good while and I had to buy lots of cupboard bits as well.

I had a sort out of some of utility cupboard and have boxed away all the overflow bleach, cleaning products etc so I only have a current one out (I am being a little OCD with it because I want to know exactly what I have).

Turns our the ex has moved the new fella into the new house already.... good to see she is letting the kids settle into the new house. I am amazed at how I thought I knew her and yet she is acting in a way I never expected from her.

DD3 wet the bet last night, must be the turmoil of it all, doing plenty of fun things this weekend though so should hopefully cheer her up.

  • Morning all,

Just dropped the LO's off at school and arrived into work. That is my weekend with them over, it seemed to go too fast but we had fun. Took them to see family and had some meals out which they enjoyed. Just another ten days until I see them next. I would like to see them some week nights but the way things are with the ex I can't see that happening anytime soon.

Just placed a couple more matched bets with stanjames and boylesport whilst using my free bet on dafabet. No profits to add as I didn't use any qualifying bets last time around.

Once the kids were in bed I have been productive and started some tidying; I made a start on the attic and identified some things for bin and others which I can get rid of. I sorted through the photos and I will need be making sure to take plenty this coming summer and look to replace all the visible ones in the house for happy times after the split.

Tonight I need to look at what food I have in the house and do a meal plan for this month based on what I have got in. I think I overestimated how much I would need. The pulled pork I got was twice the size I needed.

Off to have my golf swing analysed tomorrow.....I have lots of bad habits!

I have bought a couple of treats for myself over the weekend though totally around £30....
